Political Campaign Management Intern
Company Description Lone Mountain Strategies is a multi-state field operations and voter contact firm specializing in scalable ground game for campaigns, PACs, and committees. The organization maintains a bench of 500+ contractors who can be deployed across multiple states on short notice, with a track record of over three million doors knocked. Core services include high-volume door-to-door canvassing, persuasion, and GOTV field programs, supported by robust management and reporting. Lone Mountain Strategies focuses on partnering directly with those funding and running competitive programs, providing reliable execution in key election cycles.
Lone Mountain Strategies is hiring a Political Campaign Management Intern at the University of Georgia.
This role carries genuine operational responsibility. You will build and lead your own field team on active campaigns, working directly with candidates and senior staff, beginning this semester.
THE ROLE
You will recruit your own team of student canvassers from your network on campus, then train, schedule, and manage them in the field. You will own your team's performance and report on it directly.
Core responsibilities:
• Recruit, interview, and onboard a team of student canvassers
• Train your team on voter contact methodology and field technique
• Set daily targets, run check-ins, and manage performance
• Coordinate directly with campaign staff and candidates
• Track and report your team's production
AN ENTREPRENEURIAL ROLE, NOT AN ADMINISTRATIVE ONE
This is the closest equivalent to running your own business that is available to a full-time student. You are accountable for recruiting, training, retention, quality control, and the economics of your own operation. Your compensation is tied directly to what you build.
For students in business, entrepreneurship, or management programs, this is operating experience that is difficult to obtain before graduation. You will be making staffing decisions, managing labor costs, and answering for results.
FOR POLITICAL SCIENCE STUDENTS
If you are studying political science, government, or public policy, this is the applied field experience your coursework is not designed to provide. You will work inside a live campaign operation and learn how races are actually won: voter contact strategy, turf allocation, message discipline, and ground-game mechanics.
Students who complete a cycle with us leave with a working knowledge of campaign operations that is directly transferable to staff roles in politics, government, and public affairs.
WHAT YOU WILL TAKE AWAY
• A management title on your resume prior to graduation
• Direct working relationships with candidates and senior campaign staff
• A written professional recommendation from people who place staffers in politics and government
• A direct path to full-time employment and regional management with our organization
• Ongoing placement support. We maintain relationships with people who perform, and we make introductions.
WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR
One qualification matters more than any other: your network.
Your first responsibility is recruiting your own team, which means this role suits students who are already well connected on campus. A fraternity or sorority, an athletic roster, a club, a large friend group, an active group chat. If you are the person who can get forty people to show up to something, that is the skill this job is built on.
Prior political experience is not required. We will teach you the politics. We are looking for demonstrated leadership, an established network, and the ability to organize other people.
We have had particular success with:
• Current and former athletes
• Fraternity and sorority leadership
• Political science, communications, and business students
• Students with prior experience leading a team, a club, or an organization
Requirements:
• An established network on campus that you can recruit from
• Currently enrolled at UGA or another Athens-area institution
• Available a minimum of 20 hours per week, including some evenings and weekends
• Reliable transportation
• Comfortable with direct voter contact and with managing peers
COMPENSATION
$1,500 per week, plus performance bonuses tied to your team's production. Paid weekly.
LONG-TERM OPPORTUNITY
This is a pipeline role, not a one-semester placement. Lone Mountain Strategies is expanding, and the people we promote into regional management and full-time staff positions are the ones who proved themselves running a campus team first. If you perform here, there is a career on the other side of it.
