You will collaborate with experienced professionals to support system design, analysis, manufacturing processes, and experimental testing, all while expanding your knowledge in areas such as quantum engineering, CAD modeling, and mechanical systems. Responsibilities Assist in designing mechanical components and systems using CAD software such as SolidWorks and Creo, ensuring compliance with industry standards like ASME codes & standards. Support project scheduling activities to ensure timely progression of engineering tasks and milestones. Conduct root cause analysis on mechanical failures or system issues to identify underlying problems and propose effective solutions. Develop schematics and technical drawings for mechanical designs, utilizing drafting best practices and GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing). Contribute to system design and simulation efforts using MATLAB, Simulink, LabVIEW, or FEA tools to optimize performance and reliability. Participate in manufacturing process planning, including CNC machining, 3D printing, or assembly procedures. Assist with laboratory experiments involving quantum engineering principles or physics research, documenting findings accurately. Support the integration of programmable logic controllers (PLCs), Arduino platforms, or other control systems for prototype testing and automation tasks. Skills Strong mechanical knowledge coupled with a solid foundation in mechanical engineering principles. Proficiency in CAD software such as SolidWorks and Creo for mechanical design and drafting. Experience with system simulation tools like MATLAB/Simulink or LabVIEW for data acquisition and control system development. Familiarity with manufacturing techniques including CNC machining and additive manufacturing processes. Knowledge of schematics creation for electrical or mechanical systems. Ability to perform root cause analysis on complex technical issues using systematic troubleshooting methods. Understanding of industry standards such as ASME codes & standards relevant to mechanical design and safety. Basic programming skills in C/C++, Arduino IDE, or similar platforms for embedded system development. Experience with finite element analysis (FEA) or other simulation tools to evaluate mechanical stress and thermal effects.
