Job Title: Pharmacist in Charge Job Summary: The Pharmacist in Charge is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the pharmacy, ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations, providing pharmaceutical care to patients, managing a team of pharmacy staff, and maintaining high standards of patient safety and customer service. Responsibilities: Regulatory Compliance: Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local laws and regulations governing the practice of pharmacy. Maintain proper licensure and certifications for the pharmacy and all staff members. Keep up-to-date with changes in regulations and ensure that pharmacy practices are adjusted accordingly. Patient Care: Dispense medications accurately and provide counseling to patients regarding proper medication use, potential side effects, and interactions. Collaborate with healthcare providers to optimize patient care and medication therapy. Address patient concerns and questions related to their medications. Pharmacy Operations: Oversee inventory management, including ordering, receiving, and maintaining adequate stock of medications and supplies. Implement quality control measures to ensure the accuracy and safety of dispensed medications. Monitor prescription filling processes and ensure they adhere to established protocols. Manage prescription records and maintain patient confidentiality. Staff Management: Hire, train, and supervise pharmacy staff, including pharmacy technicians and support personnel. Provide ongoing training and professional development opportunities for the team. Conduct performance evaluations and address any performance issues as needed. Patient Safety: Implement and enforce medication safety protocols to prevent errors in dispensing and administration. Report and investigate any medication errors or adverse events, taking corrective actions as necessary. Participate in medication error reduction initiatives and promote a culture of safety. Customer Service: Interact with patients and customers in a courteous and professional manner. Address customer inquiries and concerns, resolving issues promptly and effectively. Foster a positive customer service environment within the pharmacy. Record Keeping and Reporting: Maintain accurate records of prescription dispensing, inventory management, and other pharmacy operations. Generate and submit required reports to regulatory agencies as needed. Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities for process improvement within the pharmacy, such as workflow enhancements and automation implementation. Stay updated on developments in pharmacy practice and technology. Qualifications: Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D., Bachelors) degree from an accredited pharmacy program. State licensure as a registered pharmacist. Strong knowledge of pharmacy laws, regulations, and standards. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Leadership and team management experience. Attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
