This role ensures a smooth, high-quality beverage and concessions experience for patrons across all performances, special events, and rentals, while maintaining strict adherence to alcohol service laws and theatre policies. Essential Job Functions Operations & Intermission Service: Manage fast-paced bar and concession service before curtain calls, during intermissions, and at post-show events to minimize wait times. Staff Management: Hire, train, schedule, and supervise bartenders, barbacks, and floor servers tailored to changing show calendars and event sizes. Inventory & Financials: Monitor stock levels, handle purchasing and vendor relationships, reconcile daily cash drawers, and track sales targets or budgets. Compliance & Safety: Ensure strict adherence to local liquor licensing laws, responsible beverage service protocols, and health/fire safety codes. Interdepartmental Collaboration: Coordinate with Front-of-House and Guest Experience teams to ensure a welcoming environment for theater patrons and visiting artists. Advise on equipment, glassware, and cashless POS/payment systems, and initial inventory needed for both locations to operate efficiently Financial & Administrative · Manage bar budget, including cost of goods sold (COGS) and labor costs · Process and reconcile daily sales reports (cashless/card payments only) · Assist in setting pricing strategy for bar and concession menu items · Prepare regular reports on sales, inventory, and staffing for theatre management Collaboration · Coordinate with Front of House, Box Office, and Production teams to align bar service with performance schedules and special events · Support rental events, fundraisers, and donor receptions with tailored bar service · Participate in planning meetings for season programming and special events Positions Supervised: (3-5) Part-time Bartenders Qualifications & Skills Experience: Proven background in high-volume bar, restaurant, or hospitality venue management; arts or cultural center experience is a plus. Certifications: Valid local food handler and responsible alcohol service certifications (e.g., TIPS, ServSafe) or ability to obtain withing a specified time frame) Soft Skills: Exceptional customer service, calm under pressure during peak performance rush windows, and strong organizational skills Minimum Education/Experience Required: High School Diploma and 2-4 years Bar Management experience required Preferred Qualifications · Experience opening or launching a new bar/beverage program, ideally managing multiple service locations · Experience working in a nonprofit performing arts or cultural institution · Familiarity with liquor liability and nonprofit event compliance · Bilingual or multilingual skills a plus Work Environment & Schedule The bar operates only in conjunction with performances and events — this is not a standalone, daily-service bar. Service hours are concentrated around pre-show, intermission, and post-show/event windows tied to Asolo Rep's performance calendar, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as scheduled.
