With over 35 beds across ASAM 2.5 Partial Hospitalization (PHP) and ASAM 2.1 Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOP), Tandem supports individuals experiencing substance use and co-occurring mental health challenges. The organization also provides court-ordered treatment assessments, substance abuse case management, clinical supervision, and consulting services to strengthen the behavioral health workforce. Role Description This is a full-time, on-site Nurse role based in Bedford, VA. The Nurse will provide direct patient care for individuals participating in PHP and IOP addiction and mental health programs, including assessments, monitoring, and ongoing clinical support. Day-to-day responsibilities include administering medications as ordered, documenting patient status and interventions, collaborating with therapists and physicians on treatment plans, and responding to changes in patient condition. The role will also involve educating patients and families on treatment, recovery, and health promotion, maintaining compliance with safety and infection control standards, and supporting a trauma-informed, person-centered environment. The Nurse will actively participate in interdisciplinary team meetings and contribute to continuous improvement of clinical processes and quality of care.
Qualifications
• Active Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license in the state of Virginia, in good standing.
• Experience in behavioral health, addiction treatment, or psychiatric nursing, preferably in PHP/IOP or similar levels of care.
• Strong clinical assessment skills, including the ability to monitor withdrawal symptoms, mental status, and risk factors.
• Knowledge of evidence-based practices for substance use and co-occurring mental health disorders, and familiarity with ASAM levels of care.
• Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team of therapists, prescribers, case managers, and support staff.
• Proficiency in electronic health records (EHR), accurate documentation, and adherence to HIPAA and regulatory standards.
• Excellent communication, de-escalation, and crisis-intervention skills, with a commitment to trauma-informed and recovery-oriented care.
• Reliable, organized, and able to manage multiple patients and tasks within a structured program setting.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification; Advanced certifications (e.g., ACLS, CPI or similar crisis training) are a plus.
