Description
The Medical Doctor (MD) diagnoses patient conditions using examinations and tests. Based on findings, this position prescribes treatment and medications to attempt to heal any illnesses or injuries. As a Centra MD, this position provides leadership and builds strong working relationships with other physicians, staff, patients, visitors, community members, and other stakeholders. This position is key to providing our community excellent Care for Life.

Responsibilities
Examines patient to obtain information on medical condition and riskPrescribes or administers treatment, therapy, medication, vaccination, and other specialized medical care to treat or prevent illness, disease, or injuryMakes referrals to other physicians, specialists, therapists or hospitals when appropriateOrders, performs, and interprets tests and analyze records, reports, and examination information to diagnose patients' conditionCollects, records, and maintains patient information, such as medical history, reports, and examination resultsAnalyzes patient's medical history to verify medical necessity and to determine best procedure and/or recommendationsMonitor patients' conditions and progress and reevaluate treatments as necessaryExplains procedures and discuss test results or prescribed treatments with patientsDesigns individualized care plans, using a variety of treatmentsMeets or exceeds CMS requirements and requirements all other applicable regulatory requirements and standardsDictates and completes charting in electronic medical reports per Centra policyPerforms all aspects of professional services for assigned service as requiredOther duties as assignedIn addition to the above, Lynchburg Family Medicine Residency Faculty will:Prepares and delivers educational lectures to residency students in both conference settings and in individual sessions at the bedsidePrepares materials for laboratory activities and course materials, such as syllabi, homework assignments, and handoutsMaintains student attendance records, grades, and other required recordsEvaluates and grades students' class work, practicum work, laboratory work, assignments, and papersAssists with developing residency curriculum including rotation schedules, educational goals, and objectives
Qualifications
Required Education: Completion of medical degree and residency training in a primary care specialty from an American Medical Association- (AMA) approved program or other schools with credentials approved by the Medical Staff and Board of CentraRequired Certifications and Licensures: MD/DO with certification by an American Board of Medical Specialists (ABM) board in physician's primary specialty
