Accounting Manager
SHR Talent is partnering with a rapidly growing healthcare organization in its search for a Senior Practice Accountant.
The Senior Practice Accountant will play a key role in supporting the accounting and financial operations of a growing, multi-site physician practice organization. This position is ideal for someone who combines strong accounting fundamentals with an understanding of physician practice operations and healthcare reimbursement .
Our client is looking for someone who can work independently, take initiative, and dig beyond the numbers to understand what is happening within the individual practices. The Senior Practice Accountant will partner closely with finance leadership and practice operators while helping the organization improve its processes and infrastructure as it continues to grow through acquisitions.
An ideal candidate will have experience within physician practice management, multi-site healthcare, or a similar healthcare services environment and understand concepts such as CPT codes, reimbursement, revenue cycle, and payment waterfalls.
Responsibilities:
• Support accounting and financial reporting activities across multiple physician practices
• Assist with month-end close, reconciliations, journal entries, and practice-level financial reporting
• Analyze financial results and investigate variances, discrepancies, and unusual trends
• Partner directly with practice operators to understand the financial impact of operational activity
• Understand and analyze physician practice revenue, including CPT codes, reimbursement structures, and payment waterfalls
• Provide meaningful financial insights to finance leadership and practice operators
• Assist with the integration of newly acquired practices
• Support accounting process improvements and the development of scalable procedures and controls
• Assist with the organization's transition from QuickBooks to Microsoft Dynamics
• Proactively identify accounting or operational issues and work cross-functionally to develop solutions
• Take ownership of projects and responsibilities with limited oversight
Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
• 4+ years of progressive accounting experience preferred
• Physician practice management or physician practice accounting experience strongly preferred
• Understanding of healthcare reimbursement, revenue cycle, CPT codes, and physician practice operations
• Strong knowledge of month-end close, account reconciliations, and financial reporting
• Experience within a multi-site or acquisitive healthcare organization is a plus
• QuickBooks and/or Microsoft Dynamics experience is a plus
• Strong analytical and investigative mindset
• Ability to communicate effectively with both finance professionals and operational leaders
• Self-starter with the ability to work independently and take initiative
• Comfortable working within a fast-growing organization where processes and systems continue to evolve
