JOB SUMMARY: Provide students and staff with nutritional, eye-appealing meals, provide the highest level of customer service through engaging interaction, while ensuring a clean, sanitary, and safe working environment according to HACCP regulations. Specific job duties will vary per location. PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Customer Service: Conduct all interactions with customers and staff in a professional manner, implementing the highest level of customer service by engaging in positive and helpful interaction. Food Preparation: Assist with food preparation including as assigned, kettle cooking, slicing meats and cheeses, and portioning of food for meal service. Review recipes on production records, prepare and serve food items per standardized recipes with correct serving utensils and designated serving containers. Present all food in an appetizing manner and ensure it is served at the correct temperatures. Stock milk and beverage cases, entrees, fruits, vegetables and condiments to optimize eye appealing presentation and easy selection. Restock meal components, a la Carte items, paper goods, and condiments quickly and as needed for meal service. Know where all items are stored to provide quick restocking to improve customer service. Assist with catering events and food preparation as needed. Cashier Duties: Ensure each register is prepared for daily transactions and all appropriate meal sales supplies are on hand. Transact sales for each student including both cash and student pre-paid accounts. Enter payment of accounts. Check student tray to assure compliance with qualified reimbursable meals, sell ala carte items at correct prices. Check all student sales for wanding messages especially food allergies, restrictions to a la Carte sales, and restriction for no meal if zero cash in account. Adhere to parent requests for account control. Follow defined end-of-day cashier procedures for breakfast and lunch. Prepare drawer for the next day, count daily deposits, run a report, place money and report in a designated cashier bag, and sign Bank Bag deposit form. Sanitization, Food Safety & Cleaning: Properly transport soiled dishes, pots and pans to 3-pot sink and/or dishwashing area. Correctly set-up pot and pan sink for manual washing, assist with manual pot/pan washing, putting clean pots/pans away before, during and after meal service periods. Correctly set-up dishwasher for cleaning of trays and other items, assisting with loading, unloading and putting clean dishes and production utensils away before, during and after meal service periods. Properly prepare wash, rinse and sanitizing buckets and sanitizing spray bottles for use in production and serving. Test all sanitizers with the sanitizer test strip. Assist with cleanup of the cafeteria between meal periods and at the end of meal periods including wiping down counters, sinks, appliances, fans, tables, serving lines, milk/beverage cabinets, ice cream freezers or other areas as assigned by the Cafeteria Manager. Assist with daily sweeping and mopping of the serving area, kitchen and dishroom floors. Perform assigned cleaning tasks per the building cleaning schedule. Wash and sanitize tables in the cafeteria.
