Reporting to the VP of Financial Operations and serving as a resource for the hospital management teams, The Director Financial Operations will oversee all financial aspects of assigned facilities and is instrumental in execution of the facility’s financial strategy, in addition to helping drive efficient financial operations. This position will serve as a member of the leadership team to provide analysis on new initiatives and business opportunities and will advise on impacts of risks and investments. This position will work directly with Centra's VP corps to provide financial data and analytics that drive business decisions at the facility level. The Director Financial Operations will be responsible for directly supporting the hospital operations of their assigned facility and service lines where appropriate. Required Education : Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or similar field. Preferred Education: Master’s degree in business administration (MBA) Required Experience: A minimum of five (5) years’ management experience in the healthcare field. Excellent organizational, analytical and communication skills. A mature approach to problem-solving for all types of issues. Ability to communicate and work effectively across organizational lines of responsibility. Detailed knowledge of acute care and non-acute care reimbursement, billing, and financial reporting. Preferred Experience : Hospital finance experience. Supervisory Experience. Preferred Certifications and Licensures: HFMA, AAHAM, or CPA certification. Travel Required Travel is expected to be between 0% - 40% of the time while visiting Centra locations. Responsibilities: Retain constant awareness of financial position and articulate performance trends: where needed, provide recommendations for sustainment of cost management best practices. Participates collaboratively with the Finance department and VP of Financial Operations in the monthly close. Works to improve the timeliness and efficiency of the close process. Identifies, reviews, and researches issues during the close. Collaborate with operational leaders to identify, develop, and maintain key operating metrics to assess departmental and business line performance. Compiles reports required by State and Federal Agencies, American Hospital association, and other outside agencies. Supports Revenue Cycle in driving initiatives at the facilities. Meets with the management team to give financial updates and assist them in resolving issues related to their financial reports. Significant contributor to the development of budgets and develop pro forma’s for new capital and business opportunities. Assist with financial due diligence in strategies, joint ventures, etc. Assist in executing short-term and long-term financial goals and objectives, including cost saving initiatives. Assist in development of labor standards, review labor benchmarks, and communicate ideas or recommendations for continuous improvement of labor management. Participate in business plans to support proposed new initiatives, capital requests, and other strategic opportunities. Communicate regularly and effectively with service line leaders about financial performance. Communicate ideas, recommendations, and job-related information in a clear, concise, timely, and courteous manner. Prepares and presents information to leadership and related boards in clear, concise formats that enable leaders and physicians to understand the key financial drivers of the various businesses. Provides education/information as necessary to the board, executives, physicians, and staff on financial concepts important to the businesses. Develops and trains a high performing team. Keep abreast of current healthcare regulations and reform to ensure financial and operational information is available to meet future healthcare needs. Assists with annual cost reports for Medicare and Medicaid. Other Functions: Performs other duties as assigned.
