Description: RESPONSIBLE FOR: Supervision of Central Sterile Processing Department staff to ensure proper departmental flow in the decontamination, preparation, sterilization and distribution of instrumentation to all departments within the hospital that utilize surgical instrumentation. Qualifications: MINIMUM EDUCATION REQUIRED: High School Graduation or GED Completion of an accredited sterile processing or surgical technology course. Online programs that do not offer hands on instruction or experience will not be accepted. MINIMUM EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: 5 years hands on experience in the SPD department as a technician, coordinator or lead or 7 years experience working in the surgical services environment. MINIMUM LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION REQUIRED BY LAW: Current certification as a Sterile Processing Technician from one of the two certification boards (IAHCSMM or CSPD). Surgical Techs meeting minimum experience must obtain certification within 1 year of assuming the position. ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS: 2 or more years of sterile processing or related field supervisory experience preferred. Demonstrated knowledge of instrument sterilization techniques and standards
