Production Supervisor
Summary/Objective
The Production Supervisor - Pre-Weigh is responsible for overseeing daily operations within the pre-weigh area of the manufacturing facility. This role ensures all batching, scheduling, and warehousing activities are executed accurately and efficiently while maintaining compliance with food safety, quality, and safety standards. The ideal candidate is a collaborative, hands-on leader who brings a strong background in food or ingredient manufacturing, demonstrates proficiency in GMPs, and is committed to fostering a culture of continuous improvement and operational excellence.
Essential Functions: Under the direction of the Watehouse Manager, the Production Pre-Weigh Supervisor oversees all aspects of the pre-weigh department, including supervising staff, leading production and safety meetings, managing batch processing, and coordinating raw material availability. This role supports capacity planning and lean manufacturing initiatives, ensures compliance with food safety and OSHA regulations, develops SOPs, and collaborates cross-functionally to support company goals and values. The supervisor is also responsible for training personnel, enforcing policies, reviewing documentation, and contributing to a culture of safety, quality, and accountability.
Responsibilities/Skills/Abilities:
• Utilizes independent judgment to Lead and manage preweigh department personnel to meet production goals and quality standards.
• Has authority to develop and implement standard operating procedures and work instructions.
• Drive a culture aligned with the company’s operations vision and core values.
• Support hiring, training, retention, and performance development of staff.
• Ensure accurate weighing, blending, and documentation of all batch processes.
• Collaborate with Procurement and 3rdparty warehouses to confirm material availability and timely delivery.
• Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations, including GMP, FDA, FSMA, and OSHA.
• Conduct safety and production meetings; monitor KPIs and performance metrics.
• Review pick tickets and batch records to ensure proper lot control, traceability, and labeling
• Coordinate production schedules to meet order deadlines and food safety sequencing
• Promote food safety and workplace safety culture: “See Something, Say Something”
• Ensure a safe work environment with zero safety incidents and zero product recalls through proactive oversight and compliance monitoring.
• Implement and sustain 5S practices and fundamental Lean principles to drive efficiency and organization.
• Partner with Quality, Sales/CSR, Accounting, and other departments to maintain alignment, accuracy, and workflow efficiency.
• Perform additional warehousing and productionrelated duties as assigned.
• Provide leadership within a preweigh, food blending, and manufacturing environment.
• Maintain uptodate knowledge of GMPs, OSHA regulations, and food safety compliance requirements.
• Train, mentor, and guide staff while fostering a collaborative, teamoriented culture.
• Stay informed on system updates and accurately enter data into ERP/MRP systems.
• Utilize Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Teams) for effective communication and collaboration.
• Maintain forklift and pallet jack certifications; conduct operator training as required.
• Demonstrate strong communication and interpersonal skills, with an awareness and respect for staff diversity.

Education/Knowledge Requirements:
• Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Business, Operations Management, or related field preferred
• OR 4+ years of relevant experience in food/ingredient manufacturing with 2+ years in a supervisory role
• Experience working in GMP, FDA, or USDAregulated environments
Reports To: Director of Operations
Supervisory responsibilities:
• Directly supervises all hourly employees within the PreWeigh Department.
• Oversees daily work assignments, monitors productivity, and ensures team members adhere to safety and quality standards.
• Conducts training and onboarding for new team members and provides ongoing coaching and development.
• Leads regular team meetings to communicate schedules, metrics, expectations, and updates
• Participates in recruitment, performance evaluations, disciplinary actions, and employee retention efforts.
• Promotes a positive work environment that supports teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement.
• Ensures compliance with company policies, procedures, and safety regulations.
Backup: Warehouse Manager
Physical Requirements:
• Ability to operate forklifts, pallet jacks, scales, and manufacturing equipment.
• Must be able to lift 55 lbs. or more regularly.
• Capable of pushing and pulling drums using mechanical aids.
• Must be able to stand for extended periods and climb ladders as needed.
• Ability to work in a manufacturing environment that may include temperature fluctuations, noise, and dust.
• Must be able to see, hear, and communicate effectively to supervise team members and ensure safety.
Work environment/Hours:
• Temperature controlled work environment.
• Fulltime. Typically, day shift position, but hours may vary based on production schedule. MondayFriday with occasional overtime in the evenings and at weekends.
Travel:
• The percentage of travel time expected for the position is up to 20% to local facilities in PA.
