Posting Number 20161744STD Department Summary Academic Achievement Center Peer Tutors, Peer-Assisted Learning (PAL) Leaders, and Undergraduate Writing Commons Tutors provide learning support to undergraduate students in one-hour sessions. Peer Tutors meet with students in online Teams meetings and in-person at various locations on the Athens and regional campuses. Tutors engage students in learning activities such as discussing class material and test questions, offering information about learning strategies, and fostering a positive learning environment. Writing Tutors also work collaboratively with students throughout the writing process by discussing academic or non-academic writing projects, developing ideas, organizing and revising drafts, and strengthening clarity and organization. Rather than editing or proofreading papers, Writing Tutors help students develop effective writing strategies, become more confident writers, and build the skills needed to write independently.
