THE POSITION The Maintenance Repairman 1 position with the Department of Conservation and Natural Resources offers a great opportunity to grow your hands-on skills. This role lets you work on buildings, trails, and equipment that support the William Penn Forest District. You will learn new techniques from skilled staff while gaining confidence in practical repair work. This position helps you make a positive impact on the forest while building a strong foundation for future advancement.
DESCRIPTION OF WORK This role supports repairs, construction, and upkeep across the William Penn Forest District. It helps maintain safe buildings, roads, trails and equipment to ensure smooth daily operations. As a Maintenance Repairman 1, you will perform the following duties:
• Building Maintenance: Assist with repairs and improvements to district offices, cabins, pavilions, and other facilities
• Road And Trail Care: Support upkeep of roads, trails, boundary lines, and parking areas
• Equipment Upkeep: Help complete preventative maintenance and minor repairs on automotive and motorized equipment
• Tool Management: Keep construction, electrical, plumbing, and masonry tools in good working condition
• Fire Support: Assist with wildfire prevention, detection, and suppression activities as part of forest fire duties
• Program Assistance: Support inventory tasks, exhibit construction, pest management, and other district programs

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
• This is a seasonal, full-time position with no healthcare benefits. There is not an option to buy into health care benefits. The season runs from approximately March 2026 until November 2026 at which time the employee will be placed on leave without pay. The employee will automatically be returned to employment March 2027.
• Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
• Overtime and travel may be required

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
• Two years of experience in general maintenance work which has involved at least two of the building, electrical, or mechanical trades; or
• Any equivalent combination of experience and training that affords the applicant with the Required Knowledges, Skills, and Abilities.
Special Requirements:
• This position requires possession of a valid Pennsylvania Class C Driver's License.
