Job Title: Forklift Operator
Job Description
This role operates within a fast-paced manufacturing and warehouse environment, focusing on safe and efficient forklift operation, material handling, and shipping and receiving activities. The forklift operator supports production by keeping workstations stocked, maintaining organized inventory, and accurately documenting all inbound and outbound materials while adhering to strict safety and company procedures.
Responsibilities
• Operate forklifts safely and efficiently throughout the shift to move, load, and unload materials.
• Run banders and other material-handling equipment as needed during daily operations.
• Operate wrapping equipment when necessary to prepare materials for storage or shipment.
• Fulfill machine operator workstations with required product to keep production running smoothly.
• Understand the flow of the business and prioritize work based on customer orders and production needs.
• Keep stock, materials, and warehouse areas organized and in an orderly fashion.
• Document materials unloaded and taken off trucks, ensuring accurate records for shipping and receiving.
Essential Skills
• Minimum of 6 months prior experience operating a forklift in a warehouse or manufacturing environment.
• High school diploma or GED.
• Experience in shipping and receiving and distribution operations.
• Proficiency in Excel and Word for basic data entry, documentation, and inventory tracking.
• Strong communication skills to coordinate with team members and other departments.
• Demonstrated leadership skills to help support workflow and team coordination.
• Experience with inventory, inventory control, and inventory management processes.
• Ability to perform accurate data entry for shipping, receiving, and inventory documentation.
• Experience using RF scanners for tracking and managing inventory.
• Material handling skills, including safe use of pallet jacks and related equipment.
• Ability and willingness to work overtime on short notice during the week and on weekends.
• Ability to work 2nd or 3rd shift, including weekends and overtime as needed.
Job Type & Location This is a Permanent position based out of Reading, PA.
Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $62400.00 - $72800.00/yr.
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS Starting salary for position: $27.42 per hour. Bonus: Annual – Based upon achievement of plant performance metrics. Paid Vacation: 2 weeks per calendar year. Pro-rata Vacation during the initial year of hire based upon start date within the calendar year. Paid Holidays. Within the first 30 days of employment, an employee (and their dependents) is eligible to enroll in certain benefit coverages -- medical, dental, and vision – and are automatically enrolled in life, AD&D, and disability coverages. Upon hire, an employee is automatically enrolled in the 401k plan. The plan offers both pre-tax and Roth contribution options along with employer provided matching contributions.
