Our client, a large and growing human services organization, is seeking a Director of Facility Operations to oversee the maintenance, safety, and operational integrity of a diverse portfolio of residential homes, program sites, and administrative offices.
This leadership role is responsible for developing and executing facility strategies that ensure safe, compliant, and well-maintained environments for individuals served, employees, and visitors. The Director will lead facility operations, fleet management, preventative maintenance initiatives, vendor relationships, capital improvement projects, and emergency response efforts while partnering with executive leadership on long-term operational planning.
Responsibilities
• Provide leadership and oversight for all facility operations across residential and administrative locations.
• Supervise and develop facilities staff, assigning priorities and ensuring timely completion of preventative maintenance, repairs, renovations, and special projects.
• Oversee maintenance of residential homes, office locations, fleet vehicles, equipment, and storage facilities.
• Establish and maintain preventative maintenance programs to maximize the life and reliability of organizational assets.
• Manage relationships with contractors and vendors, including bid solicitation, contract oversight, insurance documentation, and project management.
• Ensure compliance with all applicable building codes, safety regulations, licensing standards, and regulatory requirements.
• Conduct routine property inspections and oversee corrective action plans as needed.
• Review maintenance expenditures, purchase orders, invoices, and departmental budgets to ensure fiscal responsibility.
• Partner with executive leadership on facility planning, property acquisitions, renovations, and expansion initiatives.
• Support emergency preparedness efforts, including fire safety, disaster planning, snow removal, and business continuity planning.
• Oversee fleet operations, including vehicle maintenance, repairs, inspections, and replacement planning.
• Collaborate with program leadership to ensure residential environments meet the unique needs of individuals receiving services.
• Participate in an on-call rotation to support facility emergencies when necessary.
Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree preferred; equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
• Five or more years of progressive facilities management, property operations, construction, maintenance, or building operations leadership experience.
• Experience managing multiple sites, preferably within healthcare, nonprofit, human services, senior living, behavioral health, or residential environments.
• Strong knowledge of building systems, preventative maintenance, construction, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and general facility operations.
• Experience managing vendor relationships, capital projects, budgets, and contract negotiations.
• Excellent leadership, organizational, communication, and project management skills.
• Ability to prioritize multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
• Valid driver's license and ability to travel regularly between organizational locations.
Preferred Experience
• Experience supporting organizations serving individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD), behavioral health, healthcare, or other human services populations.
• Familiarity with Pennsylvania residential licensing requirements and regulatory standards.
• Experience overseeing fleet operations and preventative maintenance programs.
