1st Shift Maintenance Mechanic Job Description
The Maintenance Technician performs preventive and corrective maintenance on mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and facility systems within a manufacturing environment. This role focuses on keeping CNC machines, automated finishing and paint line systems, and other production equipment operating safely, reliably, and efficiently, while minimizing unplanned downtime through strong troubleshooting, diagnostic, and documentation practices.
Responsibilities
• Perform preventive maintenance and routine inspections on mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and facility systems to ensure safe and reliable operation.
• Execute and support preventive and predictive maintenance programs for CNC machines, semi-automated spray booths, paint line systems, and other production equipment to maintain optimal performance and reduce unplanned downtime.
• Perform scheduled inspections, lubrication, calibration, adjustments, and component replacements in accordance with OEM guidelines and established maintenance intervals.
• Use condition-monitoring techniques such as vibration checks, temperature readings, visual inspections, and diagnostic tools to detect early signs of wear or potential equipment failure.
• Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, and control-related issues on CNC machines, paint line systems, and facility equipment with minimal supervision.
• Respond promptly to maintenance requests, equipment failures, and emergency repairs to restore production operations quickly and safely.
• Diagnose equipment faults using tools such as multimeters, test instruments, schematics, and OEM documentation.
• Maintain and repair motors, pumps, conveyors, spray systems, filtration units, and associated production equipment.
• Accurately complete and document work orders, inspections, and repair activities in the computerized maintenance management system (CMMS), including findings and recommended corrective actions.
• Assist in the installation, modification, and upgrading of CNC equipment, paint systems, and facility infrastructure.
• Collaborate with production and engineering teams to optimize maintenance schedules and improve equipment reliability, with a focus on critical assets such as CNC and finishing systems.
• Identify opportunities to improve preventive maintenance procedures and support the transition toward predictive and reliability-centered maintenance strategies.
Essential Skills
• 2–5 years of maintenance experience in manufacturing or industrial environments.
• Hands-on experience with CNC equipment and automated finishing or paint line systems.
• Working knowledge of electrical systems, preferably up to 480V.
• Strong understanding of mechanical systems, pneumatics, and basic control systems.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and schematics.
• Proven troubleshooting and diagnostic skills with the ability to work independently.
• Familiarity with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) and maintenance documentation practices.
• Effective communication and teamwork skills.
• Experience performing preventive maintenance and maintenance repair in an industrial setting.
• Ability to work safely with mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
Work Environment
The role is based in a door manufacturing facility that operates industrial CNC machines and automated finishing and paint line systems. You will work around mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic equipment in a production setting, using tools such as multimeters, test instruments, and diagnostic equipment. The environment involves active production areas with moving machinery, conveyors, and spray systems, requiring adherence to safety procedures and appropriate industrial attire and personal protective equipment.

Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $50000.00 - $60000.00/yr.
