Overview
The Director of Wealth Management Talent Acquisition & Development provides strategic leadership for talent acquisition, onboarding, and advisor development initiatives across Tompkins Financial Advisors. This role is responsible for attracting and integrating high-performing wealth management professionals, supporting advisor growth and retention, and advancing organizational expansion through strategic recruiting and acquisition opportunities. Working closely with executive leadership and cross-functional partners, the Director develops scalable talent strategies that enhance advisor performance, strengthen organizational capability, and support TFA’s long-term growth objectives.
Position Goals
• Talent Acquisition Strategy - Develop and execute a comprehensive recruiting strategy that attracts high-performing wealth advisors, business development professionals, and advisory teams to support TFA’s growth objectives.
• Advisor Integration and Productivity - Ensure consistent and effective onboarding and transition experience that accelerates advisor integration, engagement, and speed-to-productivity across all markets.
• Talent Development and Retention - Design and implement development initiatives that strengthen advisor capabilities, support leadership growth, and improve long-term retention of key talent.
• Strategic Growth and Acquisition Support - Identify, evaluate, and facilitate advisor, team, and firm acquisition opportunities that contribute to business growth, asset accumulation, and market expansion.
• Organizational Alignment and Scalability - Establish consistent talent processes, partnerships, and frameworks that support operational efficiency, organizational culture, and sustainable growth across the TFA footprint.
Responsibilities
Strategic Talent Acquisition Leadership
• Lead and execute talent acquisition strategies focused on attracting experienced wealth advisors, business development professionals, and advisory teams.
• Build and maintain pipelines of qualified candidates aligned with business growth objectives.
• Strengthen TFA’s market presence and reputation as an employer of choice within the wealth management industry.
• Manage the full recruitment lifecycle from sourcing through successful hire and transition.
Advisor Onboarding and Integration
• Develop and oversee standardized onboarding programs that promote a consistent experience across all markets.
• Coordinate cross-functional activities to support smooth advisor transitions and integration.
• Monitor onboarding effectiveness and implement continuous improvements to accelerate productivity and engagement.
Talent Development and Retention
• Design and implement advisor development programs focused on business development, client acquisition, and professional growth.
• Partner with leadership to identify organizational capability gaps and development needs.
• Support succession planning, career pathing, and retention strategies for key talent.
Strategic Growth and Advisor Acquisition
• Partner with executive leadership to identify and pursue individual, team, and firm acquisition opportunities.
• Lead advisor and team engagement efforts related to transition opportunities and platform capabilities.
• Support due diligence, transition planning, and successful integration of acquired talent and assets.
Cross-Functional Leadership and Operational Excellence
• Collaborate with business leaders, operations, compliance, technology, and client service teams to align talent initiatives with organizational objectives.
• Establish scalable processes and frameworks that support growth, consistency, and operational effectiveness.
• Drive continuous improvement in talent acquisition, onboarding, and development practices.

Qualifications
• Minimum of ten (10) years of progressive experience in wealth management, talent acquisition, recruiting, talent strategy, or a related financial services discipline required.
• Demonstrated success recruiting experienced financial advisors, advisory teams, or revenue-producing professionals with transferable books of business.
• Strong knowledge of the wealth management industry, including bank wealth management platforms, Registered Investment Advisors (RIAs), broker-dealers, and competitive recruiting practices.
• Proven ability to build and maintain relationships with senior-level professionals and executive stakeholders.
• Experience leading advisor onboarding, transition management, integration, or talent development initiatives preferred.
• Strong communication, negotiation, influencing, and relationship-management skills.
• Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional initiatives and work effectively across multiple markets and business functions.
• Must be able to travel throughout the Tompkins footprint.

Pay Range
USD $130,000.00 - USD $150,000.00 /Yr.
Bonus/Incentive Plan
This position includes participation in a performance-based cash incentive plan. May also be eligible for Equity Grants.
