Job description:
We are seeking an experienced Restaurant Manager to oversee daily operations and ensure exceptional customer service at Thorn Alley Kitchen located within GoggleWorks Center for the Arts. The ideal candidate will match our culture, have strong leadership skills, restaurant management experience, and a passion for delivering outstanding dining experiences.
Key Responsibilities:
Community & Experience Development:
• Design and execute regular activation events that drive traffic during non-peak periods
• Build and nurture community through special interest programming (whiskey/beer clubs, themed music nights, game nights, etc.)
• Develop partnerships with local organizations and cultural groups for co-hosted events
• Create and manage a calendar of pop-up experiences, guest chef collaborations, and limited-time offerings
• Track attendance, revenue impact, and community engagement metrics for all activation programming
Operations Management:
• Oversee all restaurant operations with Assistant Manager, including front-of-house and back-of-house activities
• Manage and schedule staff to ensure adequate coverage during all operating hours
• Monitor food quality, presentation, and service standards
• Handle customer complaints and ensure customer satisfaction
• Manage inventory, ordering, and cost control
• Ensure compliance with health, safety, and sanitation regulations
• Train and develop staff members
• Prepare reports on sales, labor costs, COGS and operational metrics
• Coordinate with kitchen management on menu planning and execution
• Handle cash management and daily financial reconciliation
• Ability to stand on feet for extended hours (up to 10-12 hours per day) and to squat and lift up to 40 lbs
Requirements:
• Minimum 3-5 years of restaurant management experience
• Demonstrated experience creating community programming or event activations in a hospitality setting
• Track record of building recurring guest experiences beyond standard service operations
• Understanding of diverse cultural programming (Hispanic music/dance, regional entertainment styles, etc.)
• Strong leadership and communication skills
• Knowledge of restaurant POS systems and inventory management
• Understanding of food safety regulations and health codes
• Ability to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends, and holidays
• Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities
• Financial acumen with experience in budgeting and cost control
• RAMP Manager Certified and/or RAMP Server Certified
