This is a National Service position funded through a grant from Georgia Serves (aka Georgia Commission on Service & Volunteerism) and AmeriCorps, the federal agency. Please see the AmeriCorps website for more information. Position availability is contingent upon continued availability of federal funds. This position is available September 1, 2026 – August 31, 2027. If additional funding becomes available, individuals may have the option to re-enroll for additional years of service if they meet the service hour requirement (900) and perform satisfactorily.
Federal regulations require a High School diploma or equivalent to apply. Additional education and experience are preferred but not required. The position requires a one-year commitment. This is a temporary national service position, not a traditional employment position.

Benefits provided to half-time AmeriCorps members include modest monthly living allowance ($1,037.50/month), loan forbearance, and a Segal Education Award equivalent to half of the Pell Grant that may be used to pay educational costs at eligible post-secondary educational institutions as well as to repay qualified student loans. To qualify for the Segal Education Award of $3,697.50 the member must successfully log 900 service hours by August 31, 2027.
To serve in this position, applicants must be prepared to provide copies of the following documents: Proof of Citizenship (birth certificate or valid Passport), Social Security Card, Government Issued ID, Federal and State Tax Forms, High School Diploma or equivalent. Applicants must submit to a complete criminal history background check, including a finger-print based FBI check. Individuals convicted of murder or those on the sex offender registry or required to be on the sex offender registry are not eligible. The AmeriCorps member must comply with the Member Service Agreement (provided prior to service). You must possess a valid driver’s license to be considered for this position.

Duties/Responsibilities
Duties/Responsibilities
Under the direction of the 4-H County Extension Agent, deliver 4-H positive youth development programming directly to youth. This includes:
• facilitating/teaching 4-H in-school club meetings;
• preparing students for 4-H Project Achievement;
• attending 4-H Summer Camp;
• designing and implementing community service projects; and
• assisting with other 4-H base programming.
Members will assist the 4-H Agent with day-to-day activities involved with providing direct services to youth, such as planning and development of 4-H programming. Some programming may be delivered in a virtual format. Members may provide transportation to youth.
Percentage of time 55 Duties/Responsibilities
Support and provide leadership to the county 4-H Volunteer program: recruit, screen, train, and engage volunteers. The member may assist with coordinating the county volunteer registration database. Half-time members should recruit at least 3 new volunteers during their service
Percentage of time 20 Duties/Responsibilities
Track and document data related to the AmeriCorps Grant performance measures and complete monthly reports, supported by the AmeriCorps State Program Coordinator. This includes administering surveys to youth as well as data entry.
Percentage of time 15 Duties/Responsibilities
Attend local, district, and state program activities and events alongside 4-H County Extension Coordinator. Attend district and state-wide trainings, including the AmeriCorps New Service Year Orientation (October 6-7, 2026, at Rock Eagle 4-H Center) as well as additional face-to-face trainings and at least monthly webinars.

The AmeriCorps State program is a federally funded grant providing U.S. citizens with the opportunity to serve in their own country. The Georgia 4-H AmeriCorps member provides 4-H programming directly to youth under the direction of the County Extension Agent. Supervision is also provided by the AmeriCorps State Program Coordinator. This includes planning, implementation, and delivery of programming including in-school and after school club meetings, camp, and other 4-H programming delivered in the county as well as volunteer recruitment and transportation of youth. The member will also assist the AmeriCorps State Program Coordinator in collecting impact data by administering surveys to youth and entering data into provided spreadsheets. Members will comply with AmeriCorps guidelines such as quarterly reporting, monthly webinars, and other trainings.
This posting is for a half-time (part-time) AmeriCorps member serving for 12 months for the period of September 1, 2026 – August 31, 2027. Members will log a total of 900 hours, averaging 20 hours/week, depending on start date.

The successful candidate should exhibit qualities of independent judgment and a passion for service as well as the ability to perform the tasks necessary in planning, developing, and directing educational programs directed at youth. Experience working with youth a plus.
