Posting Number 2016419T Department Summary The position serves an integral role in the day-to-day management of the Athletic Compliance Office ensuring adherence to applicable NCAA, Mid-American Conference and university rules and regulations designed to mitigate risks and liability to Ohio University. Additionally, serve as the compliance educator to the coaches and student-athletes of all 16 varsity sports. 1. NCAA Rules Compliance – Monitors & educates student-athletes, staff, coaches and community on NCAA Rules such as, but not limited to recruiting, eligibility, playing and practice seasons, employment, extra benefits and gambling. Document and report NCAA violations to the NCAA and Mid-American Conference. Administer certification of student athlete academic records for compliance with NCAA progress towards degree standards. 2. Recruiting – Monitor coach recruiting activities for compliance with NCAA rules; tracks and maintains documentation for all off campus recruiting, contacts with prospective student-athletes and families, evaluations of high school sporting events. 3. Playing and Practice- Countable Athletically Related Activity (CARA) documentation and monitoring of NCAA limitations regarding daily and weekly practice hour limitations, number of days with allowable practice, number and timing of competitions. Serve as JumpForward program administrator by maintaining annual compliance documents and student-athlete profiles to ensure compliance standards are met for all transactions. Serve as staff liaison to coaches and staff. 4. Reporting Requirements – Compile reports for the NCAA, Federal Government, Mid-American Conference and institution, including but not limited to, Sport Sponsorship & Demographics, Participation and Athletic Aid reports, etc. 5. Camps and Clinics – Monitor all camp and clinic activity for all athletic department sport camps. Responsible for working with coaching staff to set camp dates and locations. Approve promotional materials involving all camps. Monitor employment, participants and registration. 6. Other duties as assigned. Position Profile Ensures University adheres to all applicable laws, regulations, and internal policies to mitigate legal risks. Monitors regulatory changes, conducts audits, and advises on legal matters to maintain organizational integrity and prevent compliance violations. Completes operational tasks essential for the daily functioning of the University. Additionally, contributes to larger projects or initiatives that align with department or University goals, often collaborating across teams. Supervisory Responsibilities May assist in mentoring or training new employees. Fiscal Responsibilities No budgetary responsibility. May be responsible for validating transactions. Problem Solving Handles a variety of problems with some independence. Independence of Action Some supervision; able to work independently on routine tasks. Communication and Collaboration Collaborates with team members and shares knowledge. Physical Requirements This role is primarily desk-based and involves extensive use of desktop computers. Occasionally, the job may require travel to attend meetings and programs. Minimum Qualifications Requires a Bachelor’s degree in a related field and 3-5 years of related professional experience, or equivalent education and experience.
