Speech Language Therapist
Position Summary
We are looking for a dedicated Speech-Language Pathologist to provide comprehensive speech and language services to students. In this role, you will handle student evaluations, design and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), deliver direct therapy, and collaborate closely with teachers, parents, and support staff.
Schedule & Location:
• Hours: 8:00 AM – 3:30 PM with a 30-minute unpaid lunch (35 total hours per week).
• Locations: Assignments require visiting various preschools and daycares within the Reading area.
• Work Environment: Caseloads for these positions take place entirely out in the community rather than a centralized school building.
Core Responsibilities
• Assessments & Referrals: Review and accept referrals for children with suspected or identified communication disorders, ensuring they are properly processed through standard screening and evaluation channels.
• Evaluations: Conduct thorough screenings and evaluations independently or alongside multidisciplinary and trans-disciplinary teams to identify student needs.
• Reporting: Write comprehensive Evaluation Reports (ERs) individually or collaboratively with your team.
• IEP Management: Formulate, review, and update IEPs for eligible children, partnering directly with families, educators, and school personnel.
• Targeted Intervention: Deliver tailored speech interventions across various settings, including individual sessions, group therapy, classroom integrated models, or community-based environments.
• Collaboration & Consultation: Partner with parents and teachers to manage communication disorders, focusing specifically on the link between early language development and literacy skills.
• Professional Development: Support the design, organization, and delivery of training programs and curriculum pieces focused on communication and literacy.
• Special Projects: Contribute to grant-funded initiatives aimed at improving childhood communication and literacy outcomes.
Position Requirements
• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology required; Master’s degree is highly preferred.
• Certification: Valid Pennsylvania state certification as mandated by the Department of Education.
• Program Credentials: Eligibility and credentials for the School-Based ACCESS Program preferred.
• Clinical Certification: ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP) preferred.
• Additional Skills: Post-graduate coursework centering on communication, reading, or literacy is a plus.
