Utilities Employees Credit Union is seeking a detail-oriented Accountant I to support core accounting operations within our Finance team. This position plays a key role in maintaining accurate financial records, performing reconciliations, and assisting with monthly close and reporting activities. This is a hybrid role, offering a combination of in-office and remote work.
The ideal candidate is organized, analytical, and able to manage multiple priorities while maintaining a high level of accuracy. This role works closely with internal teams and vendors to ensure financial transactions are processed efficiently and in compliance with established policies and regulations.
Key Responsibilities
• Maintain general ledger records, journal entries, and account reconciliations
• Assist with monthly close and prepare budget-to-actual variance analyses
• Process vendor invoices and payments (check/ACH) and resolve discrepancies
• Perform daily, weekly, and monthly reconciliations as assigned
• Support reporting activities, including 1099 preparation and financial documentation
• Ensure compliance with internal controls and regulatory requirements, including BSA/AML
• Originate wires
Qualifications
• Associate's degree in Accounting or related field (or equivalent experience)
• Minimum of 1 year of accounting or finance experience preferred
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
• Solid analytical and problem-solving abilities
• Intermediate Excel skills (including formulas such as VLOOKUP and IF functions)
• Effective communication and ability to collaborate across departments
