Summary:
We are seeking a dynamic and results-driven Distribution Center Operations Manager to lead daily operations and drive performance across our facility. This role is responsible for ensuring efficient processes, maximizing productivity, and delivering exceptional service. The ideal candidate is a strong, hands-on leader who can balance operational excellence with team development, while continuously improving processes and maintaining a safe, high-performing environment.
Responsibilities:
Operations Leadership
• Oversee all distribution center functions including receiving, storage, picking, packing, and shipping
• Develop and execute strategies to improve efficiency, throughput, and cost control
• Monitor KPIs and drive continuous improvement initiatives
• Ensure compliance with company policies and safety regulations
Team Management
• Lead, coach, and develop supervisors and warehouse associates
• Conduct performance reviews and provide ongoing feedback and development
• Build a culture of accountability, safety, and continuous improvement
• Manage staffing, scheduling, and workforce planning to meet operational demands
Process Optimization
• Analyze workflows and implement process improvements to increase efficiency
• Optimize inventory control, accuracy, and space utilization
• Apply continuous improvement methodologies such as Lean principles and Six Sigma
• Drive adoption of automation and warehouse technology solutions
Quality & Safety
• Maintain high standards for order accuracy and product quality
• Promote a safety-first culture and ensure OSHA compliance
• Conduct safety audits, training, and risk assessments
• Investigate incidents and implement corrective and preventive actions
Qualifications required:
Education
• Bachelor’s degree in Operations Management, Supply Chain, Business Administration, or a related field
Experience
• 5+ years of progressive experience in distribution center or warehouse operations
• 3+ years of leadership experience in a management or supervisory role
• Strong experience with warehouse management systems (WMS) and logistics software
• Proven track record of driving process improvements and reducing costs
Additional Qualifications, preferred:
• Lean Six Sigma certification (Green Belt or higher)
• Experience working with automated or highly mechanized warehouse environments
• Background in furniture or large-item distribution
• Experience managing high-volume, fast-paced distribution operations
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
Work Environment:
This position is located in an active industrial manufacturing and distribution center with moderate to high noise levels, temperature variations, and material handling equipment in operation. The role may require extended periods of standing or walking on concrete floors and the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) such as safety glasses and steel-toed boots. The fast-paced environment involves time-sensitive and safety sensitive operations and may include various shift schedules to support production and distribution needs.
