Kelly® Science & Clinical is seeking a R&D Lab Technician for a contract-to-hire position (3-6 months with the possibility of extension or conversion) at our client in Douglassville PA.

$23-25/hour
Overview
This company is an industry-leading food and beverage manufacturing company focused on delivering innovative beverage solutions. In this role, you’ll work closely with R&D Product Development Scientists and Managers, as well as partners in Marketing and occasionally Sales, to support the conversion of artificial color recipes to natural colors and participate in the development of lower-sugar products. This opportunity provides hands-on experience in a production and laboratory environment, contributing to the commercialization of healthier, consumer-focused beverages.
Schedule:
Monday – Friday, 8am-5pm EST (potential flexibility with start and stop time, no overtime anticipated)
Responsibilities:
• Gather ingredients and materials for recipe development
• Develop and execute control and test recipes targeting natural color and lower
sugar content
• Conduct benchtop shelf-life testing to determine product stability
• Participate in product cuttings with Marketing and Sales for recipe approval
• Submit finalized recipes to management for commercialization
• Maintain lab cleanliness and organization in compliance with GMP standards
• Follow all lab and safety procedures meticulously
• Accurately enter new recipes in approved company format
• Communicate proactively about potential delays to supervisor
• Occasionally assist with additional R&D-related tasks, including product
development and sample preparation
Qualifications:
• Bachelor of Science in Chemistry or related science field (recent graduates
encouraged, entry-level)
• One year of laboratory or relevant hands-on research experience (academic or
industry)
• Experience with spectroscopic, chromatographic, and analytical lab techniques
(e.g., NMR, IR, GC)
• Strong communication, math, and analytical skills
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
• Attention to detail, strong follow-through, and organization skills
• Commitment to developing consumer-friendly, lower-sugar, and natural color
products
• Bilingual (Spanish/English) is a plus, but not required
Physical Requirements:
Frequent standing and walking in lab/production environment; ability to lift/carry up to 20 lbs as needed; dexterity for lab techniques and computer entry; PPE required.
