Role Description This is a full-time, on-site Nephrologist role based in Athens, GA. The Nephrologist will provide comprehensive kidney care, including outpatient clinic visits, inpatient consults, and longitudinal management of chronic kidney disease, hypertension, and related conditions. Daily responsibilities include evaluating and managing patients receiving dialysis, collaborating with dialysis centers, and optimizing hemodialysis prescriptions and outcomes. The role also involves coordinating care for patients before and after kidney transplantation, including referral, evaluation, and follow-up. The Nephrologist will work closely with an interdisciplinary team, participate in quality improvement initiatives, maintain accurate documentation, and support education for patients, families, and staff.
Qualifications
• Strong clinical expertise in Nephrology and general internal Medicine, with the ability to manage acute and chronic kidney disease across diverse patient populations.
• Proficiency in Dialysis management, including Hemodialysis care, monitoring dialysis adequacy, and collaborating effectively with dialysis center staff.
• Experience or strong interest in Transplant medicine, including pre- and post-transplant evaluation, care coordination, and long-term follow-up.
• Board certification or board eligibility in Nephrology; completion of an accredited Nephrology fellowship.
• Active, unrestricted or eligible Georgia medical license and DEA registration.
• Excellent communication, collaboration, and patient counseling skills, with a commitment to compassionate, patient-centered care.
• Ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams and participate in quality, safety, and performance improvement initiatives.
• Willingness to participate in call coverage, hospital rounds, and outreach within the local hospital and dialysis network.
