Description:
The Registered Nurse will provide care for adult to geriatric patients undergoing renal dialysis.
The role involves completing hemodialysis on inpatients in the dialysis bay and at the bedside as needed.
You will have the responsibility of managing COVID dialysis patients.
During treatments, the RN will access AV fistulas and grafts, permcaths, and perform dressing changes.
You will closely monitor patients’ status throughout the dialysis treatment.
Frequent communication with nephrologists is necessary regarding orders and changes in patient condition.
You will administer medications and transfuse blood as ordered.
Expect to handle a patient ratio of 1:1-2 in a unit with an average daily census of 20 patients.
The RN will work a minimum of 12 hours of call as needed, with rotations every other weekend.
Compliance with all required protocols is essential to commence work on schedule.
During renal dialysis, the RN will utilize equipment such as the B. Braun Dialysis machine and electronic health record systems.
Effective infection control practices and management of anticoagulation are part of your responsibilities.
This position requires attention to detail, critical thinking skills, and the ability to respond to emergency situations.
You will work collaboratively with various interdisciplinary support teams to provide comprehensive patient care.
