About Us Georgia Eye Surgery is a Medicare-certified, AAAHC-accredited ambulatory surgery center specializing in ophthalmic procedures. We are seeking a Surgical Technologist to provide temporary coverage during a maternity leave. This position offers the opportunity to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented surgical environment focused on high-quality patient care in an outpatient setting. While surgery schedules may vary based on case volume and patient needs, the position does not require nights, weekends, or call responsibilities. Ophthalmology experience is preferred but not required. We are willing to train the right candidate with operating room experience and a strong commitment to patient care and teamwork. Position Summary The Surgical Technologist functions as an integral member of the perioperative team by preparing operating rooms, maintaining sterile technique, anticipating surgeon needs, and assisting during surgical procedures. This role supports patient safety, efficient case flow, and high-quality surgical outcomes. Essential Responsibilities Prepare operating rooms for scheduled procedures. Establish and maintain sterile fields. Scrub and assist surgeons during ophthalmic surgical procedures. Anticipate surgeon needs and provide instruments, supplies, and equipment efficiently. Perform instrument counts and assist with surgical safety practices. Assist with room turnover between cases. Assist with cleaning, inspection, and preparation of surgical instruments. Support inventory management and supply organization. Adhere to infection prevention, sterilization, and patient safety standards. Collaborate effectively with surgeons, anesthesia providers, nurses, and other staff. Participate in quality improvement and safety initiatives as needed. Qualifications Graduate of a Surgical Technology program or previous Surgical Technologist experience. Ophthalmology or ambulatory surgery experience preferred but not required. Current BLS certification or ability to obtain within 60 days of hire. Surgical Technologist certification is welcome but not required . Strong attention to detail, organization, and communication skills. Ability to work effectively in a team environment. Physical Requirements Ability to stand for extended periods. Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 40 pounds. Frequent bending, reaching, and movement throughout the surgical environment. Ability to handle surgical instruments and supplies with precision.
