Posting Number 20163159F Job Description The Department of Biological Sciences at Ohio University Biological Sciences Department | Ohio University invites applications for a Visiting Professor to teach undergraduate biology laboratory sections and provide leadership for the coordination, management, and ongoing development of the department’s undergraduate laboratory program. The position requires a strong commitment to student-centered instruction, experiential learning, laboratory safety, and collaborative academic engagement. This position carries a 60% teaching and 40% service workload. The teaching assignment will typically include 5–6 introductory or upper-level laboratory courses per academic year in the areas of cellular, molecular, and microbial biology. This may also involve the development, revision, and assessment of laboratory curricula, as well as leadership in evidence-based and inquiry-driven laboratory pedagogy. Service responsibilities include oversight and management of the department’s teaching laboratory program, including laboratory operations, instructional coordination, safety and compliance oversight, supervision of laboratory personnel, and support of departmental instructional initiatives. The Visiting Professor position is a full time, twelve-month position for the academic year 2026-2027 with a start date to be determined. The appointment may be renewable depending on departmental needs and performance. Minimum Qualifications MS degree in biological sciences or related field by the start date of the appointment and demonstrated experience teaching undergraduate biology laboratory courses. Preferred Qualifications PhD degree in biological sciences or related field Experience in laboratory pedagogical development Experience directing, coordinating, or managing instructional laboratory programs. Experience with laboratory safety training and regulatory compliance. Experience supervising laboratory coordinators, teaching assistants, or instructional staff.
