Catering Chef / Banquet Chef University of Georgia – Georgia Center for Continuing Education & Hotel Location Athens, GA Salary $45,000 – $66,500 Schedule Full-Time Posting # S15011P Lead the culinary production for a full-service conference center and hotel on the University of Georgia campus. This is a hands-on supervisory chef role — you'll run the line, lead a crew, and own quality across VIP events, banquets, and our drop-off catering program (GC Delivers). What You'll Do Plan and execute food production for banquets, VIP events, and drop-off catering Review BEOs and translate event needs into prep plans, ordering, and execution timelines Supervise and develop culinary production and utility staff on assigned shifts Enforce recipe standards, portion control, plating consistency, and food safety Maintain sanitation readiness — this kitchen is always inspection-ready What We're Looking For Required: 5+ years of professional culinary experience, with catering or banquet volume Supervisory experience — you've run a shift, assigned work, and coached a team Strong food safety and sanitation knowledge Ability to lift 50 lbs, stand for extended periods, work in a high-temperature kitchen Bachelor's degree in a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience Preferred: ServSafe certification or equivalent Experience reading and executing from Banquet Event Orders (BEOs) Familiarity with large-scale catering, hotel F&B, or conference center operations Schedule Base schedule is Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM. Evening and weekend shifts occur based on event volume — this is a catering operation, so flexibility is part of the role. Most weeks are predictable; peak periods (commencement, conferences, major events) are busier.
