Lead the dining experience at one of Athens' most iconic hospitality venues. The Georgia Center for Continuing Education & Hotel at the University of Georgia is looking for an Assistant Retail Manager who thrives on the floor, leads with energy, and takes genuine pride in running a tight, guest-focused operation. This is a shift-level leadership role with real responsibility — you'll be the on-duty manager for the Bulldog Bistro, coffee bar, and Savannah Room, leading a team of baristas, servers, and retail staff across a full-service hotel and conference environment. What You'll Do Run daily dining operations as the on-duty shift lead across multiple outlets Supervise and coach front-line staff through real-time, hands-on leadership Own service quality, floor flow, and guest satisfaction on your shift Oversee cash handling, POS reporting, deposits, and tip compliance Monitor inventory, identify shortages, and keep service uninterrupted Ensure compliance with food safety, health codes, and responsible alcohol service Manage staffing adjustments, schedule coverage, and hourly staff coordination Serve as the primary point of contact during emergencies or escalated guest situations What We're Looking For High school diploma or equivalent and 5 years of related experience in food & beverage, hospitality, or retail management Proven ability to lead a team and manage a shift independently Strong guest service instincts — you know how to read a room and fix problems fast Solid organizational skills and comfort with POS systems, scheduling software, and Microsoft Office Working knowledge of food safety and sanitation standards ServSafe certification a plus Ability to stand for extended periods, lift up to 30 lbs, and work varied schedules including evenings and weekends Why Work at the Georgia Center?
