About the Opportunity
Sigma Systems is seeking a detail-oriented Active Ingredient Technician to join a leading vaccine manufacturing operation in Athens, GA. This position plays a critical role in the preparation of vaccine components within an aseptic cleanroom environment using virus and cell culture techniques in compliance with USDA regulations.
This is an excellent opportunity for candidates with laboratory, biotechnology, life sciences, pharmaceutical manufacturing, biologics production, or cleanroom experience looking to grow their careers in vaccine production and biologics manufacturing.
Rabies vaccination is required for this position.
Work Schedule
This position follows a rotating 4-day workweek schedule:
• One month: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday
• Following month: Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday
• Shift Hours: 6:45 AM – 5:15 PM
• Overtime may be required
• Weekend and holiday work may be required
Key Responsibilities
• Perform activities associated with vaccine component preparation in an aseptic cleanroom environment
• Utilize virus and cell culture techniques according to USDA regulations
• Follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP)
• Complete and review production documentation accurately and on time
• Maintain technical records and supporting documentation
• Assist in training and coaching new and existing team members
• Participate in root cause investigations and corrective/preventive actions (CAPA)
• Escalate production issues and support troubleshooting activities
• Support deviation investigations and change control initiatives
• Participate in continuous improvement projects and site initiatives
• Demonstrate commitment to Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) programs
• Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams to meet production goals
Required Qualifications
• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Minimum 1 year of laboratory, biotechnology, pharmaceutical manufacturing, biologics manufacturing, or related experience preferred
• Knowledge of aseptic techniques and cleanroom operations
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
• Basic math and troubleshooting abilities
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and database systems
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to work independently and within a team environment
• Strong problem-solving skills
• Ability to follow detailed procedures and maintain accurate documentation
Preferred Qualifications
• Associate's or Bachelor's Degree in Biology, Microbiology, Biotechnology, Life Sciences, or a related scientific field
• Experience working in GMP-regulated manufacturing environments
• Experience with cell culture techniques
• Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing principles
• Experience supporting vaccine, biologics, pharmaceutical, or laboratory operations
