Posting Number 2016366T Department Summary The primary responsibility of this position is to provide strength and conditioning performance coaching expertise to multiple intercollegiate athletics sports, excluding FOOTBALL. Additional responsibilities include, but are not limited to, oversight of identified strength coaching staff, oversight of the Sport Performance budget, oversight of the Carin Center schedule, coordinate the purchase, repair and replacement of strength equipment, ensure staff completion of required continuing education requirements, and serve as a liaison with the Patton College of Education Coaching Education Master’s program. The position exists to improve the overall strength and conditioning of student-athletes, the prevention of injuries, and increase athletic performance. 1. Teach, motivate, and coach student-athletes in the development of technical and physical knowledge and athletic performance as it relates to performance enhancement and injury prevention to compete as Division I intercollegiate level student-athletes. Plans strength and conditioning regimens per team and/or individual student-athlete. Monitors progress/results and adjusts plan accordingly. Serve as a sports performance coach to assigned sports, programmer and training sessions coach of skills and student-athlete groups as assigned. This position does not work with FOOTBALL. 2. Design, implement, conduct, and monitor strength and conditioning programs for assigned teams. Collect, monitor, analyze, and present data from biotechnology tracking applications for assigned teams. Collaboration with the Athletic Department Dietitian to ensure appropriate nutrition and body composition education and programming for health and performance. 3. Collaborate frequently with licensed Athletic Trainers and Physical Therapists regarding the rehabilitation progress and return to participation/play planning of injured student-athletes. Position Profile Works with student athletes on techniques to safely maximize physical capabilities and athletic performance. Level Summary Responsible for the management of a unit that performs diverse but related tasks. Handles work and budget planning, ensuring efficient allocation of resources to achieve team objectives. Contributes to divisional or departmental operational plans by aligning unit goals with broader institutional strategies. Accountable for meeting short-term objectives and driving continuous improvement. Supervisory Responsibilities Manages a large team or multiple teams. Directly oversees at least 2.0 FTE employees or one or more supervisors. Has authority to hire, transfer, suspend, promote, manage performance, discharge, assign duties, reward, and discipline employees. Fiscal Responsibilities Oversees large budgets, including departmental and program-level budgets. Problem Solving Solves strategic, organizational problems and ensures continuous improvement. Independence of Action High degree of autonomy in decision-making, accountable for large areas. Communication and Collaboration Collaborates with executive leadership and external partners to drive organizational goals. Physical Requirements This role is primarily desk-based and involves extensive use of desktop computers. Occasionally, the job may require travel to attend meetings and programs. Minimum Qualifications Requires a Master’s degree in a related field, 8 or more years of related professional experience, and 5 or more years of supervisory experience, or equivalent education and experience. Preferred Qualifications Division I strength and conditioning coaching experience. Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist or Strength and Conditioning Coach Certified. Department ICA Business Administration Pay Rate Salary is commensurate with experience and credentials. The targeted salary range for this position is $58,972 – $71,640.
