Posting Number 2016374T Department Summary Design and Construction provides the Ohio University main campus and five regional campuses with design and construction management services, technical expertise, and innovative solutions grounded in the best practices of campus design and green building development. The department strives to have all University projects built using quality construction based on just and fair administration, integrity, and professionalism by incorporating the official University Design and Construction Standards. Furthermore, Design and Construction partners closely with University Planning and Space Management, the Office of Sustainability, Real Estate, Utilities, and Energy Management to demonstrate a steadfast commitment to sustainability. Senior Project Managers within this department are expected to manage the design and construction of multiple and complex facilities infrastructure, renovation, and construction projects on the Athens and Regional Campuses. Manage projects to scope, budget and schedule as well as any repercussions of variances. Provide project management oversight for studies, design and construction in accordance with University processes and guidance. Prioritize multiple projects of various sizes simultaneously. Coordinate project development with University department and personnel as it relates to planning, programming, estimating, design, construction, and close-out. Oversee the preparation of required contract documents. Review contractors and consultants work: approve schedules, change orders, show drawings and pay applications Prepare project status reports Effectively communicate with project stakeholders Oversee quality of work through on-site visits, written and verbal communications and inspection of materials Lead project budget, schedule, cash flow and overall communications development. Prepare bid documents. Conduct research for new construction techniques, products and designs. Assist in updating university design and construction standards. Lead competitive selection of consultants and contractors for University construction projects. Coordinate training of maintenance staff related to newly completed projects and conduct project debriefing reviews. Position Profile Provides engineering and/or architectural expertise in designing and maintaining University facilities and systems. Responsibilities include overseeing construction projects, facilities planning, managing budgets, and ensuring that projects align with strategic goals. Ensures high-quality, innovative infrastructure for the University’s growth. Plans, organizes, and coordinates design and construction projects. Reviews engineering plans and evaluates design proposals. Coordinates with architects, engineers, and construction firms to ensure adherence to schedules, project plans, and University objectives. Responsibilities include programmatic administration, coordination and management of projects, budgetary oversight, facilities management, and leadership of programs and services. Functions may include specialized architectural, engineering, site, and construction services; energy engineering; project scheduling, estimating, and management; and specialized research-related engineering. Level Summary Regularly serves as a technical leader, expert, or program manager for complex functions or initiatives that require deep subject-matter knowledge. Significantly impacts the department by directly contributing to its performance and success. Supervisory Responsibilities Provides leadership to projects or initiatives. May have a limited number of direct reports. Fiscal Responsibilities May be responsible for budget for projects or initiatives. Physical Requirements This role is primarily desk-based and involves extensive use of desktop computers. Occasionally, the job may require travel to attend meetings and programs. Minimum Qualifications Requires a Bachelor’s degree in a related field and 8 or more years of related professional experience, or equivalent education and experience. The salary negotiated at the time of offer will be commensurate with education and experience while also considering internal equity.
