Under general supervision, this position drives the fire engine to the scene, controls and extinguishes fires, and protects life and property. Maintains all fire equipment. Completes records and reports as required. Assists in educating the public regarding fire prevention and safety. Performs facilities and grounds maintenance duties. Reports to the Lieutenant.
Education and Experience:
Requires a high school diploma or equivalent, completion of SC Fire Academy training, and at least 1 (one) year as a Firefighter with a satisfactory performance evaluation. Employees must possess and maintain a valid South Carolina Class E Driver’s License or South Carolina Class A CDL (Commercial Driver’s License). Candidates must also pass the department’s Firefighter - Apparatus Operator written and skills exams, along with required SC Fire Academy courses:

• Emergency Vehicle Driver Training
