Supervisor, Shipping
The Shipping Supervisor is responsible for the daily operations of shipping and transportation. Directly or through assigned personnel, the supervisor is responsible for the preparation of goods for shipment and for accurate and timely preparation of records for incoming and outgoing shipments. This role serves as the "traffic manager" and ensures accurate and timely communication of shipping information to internal and external stakeholders.

• Selects, trains, and manages performance for assigned team; schedules employees and ensures adequate personnel coverage, especially at crucial (end of month) shipping periods
• Ensures the maintenance on company vehicle(s) is performed to ensure optimal operating condition and availability for use; ensures compliance with insurance requirements and may manage insurance claims as required; negotiates replacement of fleet equipment as needed; maintains driver and vehicle records as required
• Communicates daily with local and national shipping carriers (including UPS, FedEx, and other OTR carriers); may coordinate with freight brokers as required for larger international shipments; obtains quotes, negotiates pricing, and selects best method and carrier
• Examines shipment contents and confirms accuracy of manifests, invoices, and orders; records data such as quantity, weight, freight charges, space requirements, and damage or discrepancies; manages freight claims as required when damages occur
• Prepares work orders, bills of lading, and shipping orders to route materials and accurately status orders
• Requisitions and maintains appropriate inventory of shipping materials and supplies, including specialized crating as required by customers
• Performs data entry/processes to support planning and scheduling in ERP; completes appropriate paperwork and data entry in the ERP system, in compliance with internal processes and quality procedures
• Reviews product drawings or blueprints to accurately identify applicable specifications for material handling and shipping
• Packs items for shipment; may use power and/or hand tools to assemble crating
• Operates forklift and other material-handling equipment as required; forklift certification on-site may be required
• Maintains a clean and organized, safe work area
• Complies with applicable manufacturing processes, work procedures, and instructions
• Adheres to safety guidelines and procedures; proactively identifies job hazards and collaborates with leadership to minimize hazards and ensure employee safety
• Sets an example for integrity, communication, and compliance for others in the organization by following policies, communicating professionally, and providing timely responses to internal customers
• Updates internal metrics and tracking as required; may provide status updates and tracking information to internal customer-facing personnel or directly to customers upon request
• Performs other duties as assigned; Regular attendance on-site at the work site is required
This Role Is Identified As Requiring ITAR (International Traffic In Arms Regulations) Compliance; Therefore, Qualified Candidates Must Meet The Definition Of a U.S. Person (per EAR Part 772 And ITAR 120.15):
• An individual who is granted U.S. citizenship, or
• An individual who is granted U.S. permanent residence (i.e., a "Green Card" holder), or
• An individual who is granted status as a "protected person"
Required Education And Work Experience
• High school diploma or GED equivalent
• A minimum of three (3) years of experience in a warehouse role performing order preparation and shipping; international shipping/export experience is preferred
• A minimum of two (2) years of supervisory experience

• Demonstrated analytical, problem solving, and critical thinking abilities to appropriately handle unexpected challenges
• Commitment to maintaining confidentiality, securing company records, and demonstrating integrity in communications and actions
• Self-management skills including efficiency, sense of urgency, ability to adapt and respond to unexpected circumstances, and ability to juggle multiple projects, competing priorities, and meet concurrent deadlines
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills (English)
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications including Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Word and ERP systems
• Consistently legible handwriting (English)
Physical Demands and Work Environment
To Perform The Essential Functions Of The Role, Employees Must Be Able To Perform The Following Activities With Or Without Reasonable Accommodations:
• Regularly stand and walk throughout the facility, and stand for extended periods to perform job duties; sit for extended periods while working on computer
• Regularly lift, carry (short distances), and push/pull up to 50 pounds
• Frequently climb steps, stairs, or ladders
• Frequently bend, crawl, stoop, squat, or kneel
• Accurately distinguish colors, letters, and numbers
• Use hands and fingers to manually inspect, count, and package parts
• Visual ability to read precise measurements and hardware markings, and to recognize and avoid obstacles to safely operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and other material handling equipment
Working Conditions
Work is performed in a manufacturing warehouse environment where working conditions may vary significantly; the employee will be exposed to:
• Moderate Noise (regularly)
• Excessive noise, hearing protection required (occasionally)
• Dust, smoke, fumes/vapors (occasionally)
• Extreme temperatures (occasionally)
• Sharp instruments including box cutters, scissors, and other tools used in stocking and packaging
• Hazardous equipment including forklifts, hand tools, cranes or other lifting devices, and other equipment used in a machine shop environment
The use of PPE, including hearing protection, eye and hand protection, and use of safety footwear may be required
