Job description:
Responsibilities
• Oversee general ledger accounting processes, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and month-end closing activities.
• Prepare and analyze financial statements in accordance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and ensure accuracy in reporting.
• Manage accounts payable and receivable functions, including invoice processing, payment disbursements, and collections.
• Conduct detailed account reconciliations to verify data integrity across multiple financial systems such as Workday, SAP PeopleSoft, or similar platforms.
• Support internal controls compliance, including SOX (Sarbanes-Oxley Act) requirements, through meticulous documentation and process reviews.
• Assist with external audits by preparing schedules and providing necessary documentation.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams on payroll management using systems like ADP or UltiPro, ensuring accurate payroll processing and benefits administration.
• Maintain proficiency in various accounting software such as QuickBooks, Sage, Ceridian, or Kronos for efficient data entry and reporting.
• Participate in special projects related to financial analysis, budgeting, or process improvements to enhance operational efficiency.
• Stay updated on industry regulations and best practices related to governmental accounting, non-profit accounting, and tax regulations.
Skills
• Extensive experience with accounting software including Workday, Paychex, QuickBooks, Quicken, Sage, PeopleSoft, Ceridian, or similar platforms.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP principles and technical accounting standards.
• Proven expertise in accounts payable/receivable management and payroll processing.
• Familiarity with SOX compliance procedures and internal control frameworks.
• Ability to perform detailed account reconciliation and general ledger analysis accurately.
• Excellent analytical skills combined with a thorough understanding of financial concepts such as debits & credits and double-entry bookkeeping.
• Proficiency in data entry with high accuracy (10-key typing skills preferred).
• Effective communication skills for collaboration across finance and human resources departments.
• Experience working within public accounting environments or governmental/non-profit sectors is advantageous.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities efficiently.
