Job Type: Direct Hire Senior O&M Mechanical Engineer needed for a Direct Hire opportunity with SOC’s client to work onsite in Indian Head, MD.

This position is seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer to independently develop mechanical designs for renovations and upgrades to existing buildings at a federal site. The ideal candidate will have experience supporting the operations and maintenance of building mechanical equipment such as HVAC systems, pumps, compressors, and blowers. This is a multi-year project which will be based at Indian Head, Maryland.
Job Description:

• Plan, implement, or monitor preventative maintenance programs (e.g., inspections, testing, and maintenance) that comply with federal and local requirements and industry codes, standards, and guidelinesÂ
• Provide engineering support toward documenting and/or troubleshooting operational issues with mechanical equipmentÂ
• Identify and work to proactively resolve any compliance issuesÂ
• Identify and document potential capital improvement projects necessary to improve operations by conducting site visits to document existing conditions, developing new requirements based on planned use, and creating preliminary scopes or budgetary cost estimatesÂ
• Perform mechanical design reviews for facility improvement projects provided by third-party or in-house design effortsÂ
• Assess compliance of design packages with applicable Unified Facilities Criteria (UFC), codes, and regulations as well as end-user requirementsÂ
• Knowledge and experience working with related equipment and systems such as HVAC, pumps, compressors, and blowersÂ
• Collaborate and communicate effectively with other stakeholders, internal and externalÂ
• Serve as a project manager on some assigned projectsÂ
Required Qualifications and Skills:
•
• A Bachelor’s degree or Master’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field
• A Professional Engineer (PE) License is preferred but not requiredÂ
• At least eight years of experience with a mechanical engineering degree or at least ten years of relevant experience and a degree in another engineering disciplineÂ
• Demonstrated ability to collaborate/communicate effectively with internal/external stakeholdersÂ
• Excellent verbal/written communication, problem-solving, conflict resolution, and decision-making skillsÂ
• Experience working with AutoCAD and SolidWorksÂ
• Ability to prioritize, perform, and communicate effectively in a fast-paced environmentÂ
• Experience with Process Control Systems such as programmable logic controller (PLC) ladder logic and Human Machine Interface (HMI) programming is a plusÂ
• Specific experience with Allen Bradley or Siemens systems is a plusÂ
• Knowledge to apply engineering skills toward process equipment, facility operations, and maintenanceÂ
• Must currently hold or be able to obtain a Department of Defense Secret-level security clearance; Must be a U.S. citizen as this position is not eligible for Limited Access AuthorizationsÂ
