Production Supervisor
Position Overview
The Production Supervisor leads day-to-day manufacturing operations to meet production schedules, quality standards, and safety requirements. This role directs a team of operators and technicians, drives continuous improvement through Lean and Six Sigma principles, and collaborates with engineering, maintenance, quality, and supply chain to optimize throughput and reduce waste. The Production Supervisor is accountable for achieving key performance indicators (safety, quality, delivery, and cost) while developing a high-performing, engaged workforce.
Key Responsibilities
• Supervise and coordinate daily production activities to achieve scheduled output, quality standards, and on-time delivery.
• Lead, coach, and develop production team members; manage staffing, shift assignments, and performance reviews.
• Monitor production metrics (OEE, throughput, yield, scrap) and implement corrective actions to meet targets.
• Drive continuous improvement projects using Lean methodologies and Six Sigma tools to reduce waste, improve flow, and increase efficiency.
• Enforce safety, environmental, and regulatory compliance; conduct regular safety audits and coaching.
• Collaborate with maintenance and engineering to ensure equipment uptime, schedule preventive maintenance, and support troubleshooting.
• Work with quality and process engineering to resolve product non-conformances and implement process controls.
• Manage materials flow and work with supply chain to address shortages, inventory discrepancies, and schedule changes.
• Facilitate root cause analysis (5 Whys, DMAIC) for production issues and implement sustainable solutions.
• Maintain accurate production records, shift logs, SOPs, and communicate performance and improvement plans to leadership.
Qualifications
• 3+ years of supervisory experience in a manufacturing or production environment.
• Practical experience with Lean manufacturing and continuous improvement; Six Sigma training or certification (Yellow/Green Belt) preferred.
• Strong knowledge of production metrics, process control, and quality systems (ISO, AS9100, etc. as applicable).
• Proven leadership skills with the ability to coach, motivate, and develop teams.
• Analytical problem-solving skills, experience with root cause analysis and corrective actions.
• Familiarity with ERP/MRP systems and production scheduling tools.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; ability to work cross-functionally and drive change.
