Mechanical Harness Engineer Position Overview We are seeking a detail-oriented Mechanical Harness Engineer to support the design and development of complex electromechanical systems. This role focuses on creating robust electrical harness solutions that ensure reliable power distribution and data transmission across integrated system components. The ideal candidate will bring strong technical expertise, hands-on design experience, and a collaborative mindset to support high-performance engineering projects.
Key Responsibilities • Design and develop electrical harness systems based on system requirements, accounting for space constraints, environmental conditions, and performance criteria.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including systems, electrical, and mechanical engineering to ensure alignment on requirements and design objectives.
• Create and maintain comprehensive harness documentation, including schematics, routing layouts, connector selections, and termination plans using CAD tools.
• Ensure designs meet applicable industry standards, internal quality requirements, and best practices for reliability.
• Perform analyses to validate mechanical durability, electrical performance, and environmental resilience.
• Support manufacturing, assembly, and integration processes to ensure designs are executed accurately and efficiently.
• Conduct testing and validation activities such as continuity checks, insulation resistance testing, and signal verification.
• Partner with suppliers and vendors to source components while balancing cost, quality, and schedule constraints.
• Document design processes, engineering changes, and test results for traceability and continuous improvement.
• Participate in design reviews and provide technical recommendations to enhance performance and manufacturability.
• Troubleshoot issues identified during integration, testing, or field operations.
• Stay current with industry trends, tools, and emerging technologies to drive innovation and efficiency.

Basic Qualifications Education:
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field
Experience:
• 3–5 years of experience in electrical harness design, preferably within aerospace or space applications
Preferred Qualifications • Experience with high-reliability harness design for satellites, CubeSats, or nano/microsatellites
• Knowledge of space-rated materials and aerospace manufacturing processes
• Familiarity with thermal analysis and thermal management techniques
• Experience working with aerospace agencies or satellite manufacturers
Technology Stack • CAD/Design Tools: Autodesk Inventor, Fusion 360 PLM, Vault
• Familiarity with harness design standards and schematic capture tools

Job Type & Location This is a Permanent position based out of Lanham, MD.
Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $100000.00 - $110000.00/yr.
