We are seeking a versatile Accountant/Business Analyst to join our team. This hybrid role primarily supports the corporate accounting department while contributing critical analytical support to project finance and bid & proposal (B&P) pricing efforts. The ideal candidate possesses strong foundational accounting skills combined with a strategic, analytical mindset to drive project profitability and cross-functional collaboration.
Responsibilities and Duties
Under the supervision and guidance of the Controller, you will: • Core Accounting & Close: Prepare monthly journal entries, complex account reconciliations, and supporting schedules to ensure a timely and accurate month-end close in accordance with U.S. GAAP.
• AR & Billing: Manage Accounts Receivable (AR) billings, ensure accurate invoice submissions via client portals, and proactively conduct collection follow-ups.
• Reporting & Compliance: Prepare monthly and quarterly bank compliance reporting, PEO reporting requirements, and support annual audit preparations.
• Project Finance: Support project reporting efforts by monitoring project spend, analyzing variances against budgets, and tracking key performance metrics.
• Pricing & B&P Support: Assist team in pricing model development and financial analysis for new Business & Proposal (B&P) opportunities, ensuring alignment with corporate rate structures.
• Operational Backup (AP & Payroll): Maintained cross-trained readiness to provide seamless backup support for end-to-end accounts payable processing and payroll cycles, ensuring business continuity during peak periods or team absences.
• Ad Hoc Analysis: Provide data-driven financial analysis, reporting, and special project support as requested by executive leadership and the Controller.
Qualifications
Required: • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a closely related field.
• 3+ years of progressive corporate accounting or financial analysis experience.
• Strong foundational knowledge of U.S. GAAP and hands-on month-end close experience.
• Exposure to or foundational understanding of standard accounts payable workflows and timekeeping/payroll processing.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (e.g., VLOOKUPs, Pivot Tables, data modeling).
• Excellent communication skills.
• High dependability and adaptability to manage competing priorities and pivot between analytical tasks and routine financial operations.
Preferred (Nice-to-Have): • Active CPA license or progress toward completing the CPA exam.
• Experience working within the federal government contracting (GovCon) industry.
• Familiarity with DCAA compliance guidelines (especially regarding timekeeping and labor distribution), FAR regulations, and project-based accounting structures.
• Hands-on experience with GovCon-specific ERP software (e.g. Unanet).
• Ability to work effectively cross-functionally
