Operations Manager – Manufacturing
$110,000 – $130,000/year
We are partnering with our client to find a hands-on Operations Manager to lead manufacturing operations in a vehicle production environment onsite in Elmira, NY. This role requires a proven leader who can drive team performance, cost control, quality initiatives, project management, and deliver results across safety, quality, cost, and delivery (SQCD).
Key Responsibilities
• Lead startup of an entire manufacturing operation. Lead, coach, and develop production supervisors and hourly teams to achieve operational targets
• Drive a high-performance, accountable culture focused on safety, quality, and continuous improvement
• Oversee daily manufacturing operations to meet SQCD goals and production schedules
• Plan, assign, and supervise work in a fast-paced assembly/production environment
• Implement and sustain Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and Kaizen initiatives
• Ensure adherence to standardized work, SOPs, and quality systems
• Partner with Engineering, Supply Chain, Quality, and Maintenance to ensure production readiness
• High level experience with KPIs
• Lead workforce training, development, and performance management
Qualifications
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, Operations Management, or related field
• 10–15 years of experience in manufacturing operations leadership
• Demonstrated success with the startup and leading of large teams in high-volume manufacturing environments
• Strong background in automotive manufacturing, assembly, or similar industries
• Experience with Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and continuous improvement tools
• Proficiency in ERP systems, production planning, and Microsoft Excel
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
• Automotive or rolling stock manufacturing experience a plus
• Experience managing production lines, plant operations, and KPI-driven environments
