Protein Modeling Scientist
* Rockville, MD
Our client is a prominent biotech organization advancing groundbreaking antibody and protein design initiatives.
They are in need of a Lead Scientist, Protein Design to oversee experimental projects while utilizing computational methods to expedite and enhance design processes.
The perfect candidate will be responsible for the following:
* Direct experimental planning and implementation of antibody and protein design initiatives such as enhancing affinity, developing multi-specific antibodies, and creating new binders from scratch
* Lead protein production, purification, and assessment processes across various platforms
* Create and conduct binding and functional tests to assess and refine engineered proteins
* Collaborate with structural experts and computational researchers to incorporate structural findings into experimental projects
* Utilize computational tools like AlphaFold and Rosetta to aid and inform wet lab approaches
* Oversee CRO collaborations including planning experiments, communicating with vendors, and internal documentation
The ideal candidate will meet the following qualifications:
* PhD in biochemistry, molecular biology, protein chemistry, or related field with at least 2 years of industry experience
* Hands-on knowledge in protein production, purification, and evaluation
* Experience with antibody design technologies like bispecifics, nanobodies, or similar formats
* Published work and/or patents related to antibody or protein design
* Familiarity with design tools (AlphaFold, Rosetta, ProteinMPNN) would be advantageous
* Proven ability to lead technical teams and oversee complex, multi-dimensional projects
* Excellent written and verbal communication abilities
