JOB SUMMARY:
R esponsible for managing the Life Safety program and personnel and is accountable for outcomes and assuring the safety and compliance of health care facilities with respect to the Life Safety Code and Joint Commission Environment of Care and Life Safety Standards. Defines program controls, such as processes, procedures, reporting, etc., to manage the program. Plans the overall program and monitors progress to make sure that milestones are being met across the various projects and programs. Evaluates the life safety compliance at entities within the Penn State Health System with the applicable standards, laws, rules and regulations. Responsible for coordinating and supporting regulatory activities relating to Life Safety activities and identifying processes and monitoring of ongoing conditions to assure a safe environment of care for patients, visitors and employees. Act as back up to others to include the department Director and other management positions. Provides 24/7 on-call coverage on a rotational basis.
Performs all duties in a manner that promotes a team concept and reflects the goal of providing seamless support for patients. Performs duties to support the goals and objectives of the Penn State Health System in its efforts to provide high quality and safe patient care and high levels of patient satisfaction. Active participant in Performance Improvement activities and successful Joint Commission and DOH survey outcomes. Demonstrates a comprehensive understanding of the Life Safety code and Joint Commission Environment of Care and Life Safety standards.
M INIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor's degree in related field and 5 years of experience or 9 years of demonstrated facilities management experience in an acute care hospital managing related life safety and environment of care issues required.
Previous Supervisory Experience Required.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES:
Ability to work and communicate under pressure, handling multiple commitments with poise, professionalism, maturity, and confidence.
Advanced knowledge of hazardous materials normally acquired by completing related training programs.
Knowledge of presenting building reports.
Knowledge and training in life safety and environment of care.
Ability to develop and execute educational programs for a multi-disciplinary team of clinical and non-clinical colleagues.
Presentation, education and communication skills that ensure that stakeholder are able to understand, utilize and apply the information provided.
Project management, follow-up and organization skills that allow the individual to successful initiate and complete assigned projects and initiatives.
CMS Maintenance program knowledge.
Knowledge of Microsoft Office Software.
Ability to respond to emergencies.
Knowledge of HICS.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Certified Healthcare Facilities Management Credentials preferred.
Experience In a Multi-hospital System Preferred.
Master's degree in related field preferred.
