Position Overview:
The Licensing Director serves as the senior regulatory leader responsible for shaping and driving the licensing strategy for Advanced Technologies. This role provides oversight of all licensing activities, ensuring alignment with U.S. nuclear regulatory requirements and corporate objectives. The Licensing Director provides guidance through complex technical, safety, and regulatory challenges; leads strategic engagement with regulatory authorities, customers, and key partners. This position requires exceptional leadership in cross-functional environments and the ability to influence organizational direction in support of critical program and business outcomes.

Your Day to Day as a Director, Licensing:
- Provide strategic leadership in developing and executing comprehensive licensing plans for advanced reactor technology within the U.S. commercial regulatory framework, guiding organizational direction across nuclear safety, security, emergency planning, reactor design, code development, financial and environmental law, and safeguards.
- Oversee and direct the creation of high-quality regulatory deliverables, including technical reports, topical reports, and license application content to ensure alignment with corporate objectives and regulatory expectations.
- Define and drive regulatory strategy to address major technical and programmatic challenges associated with BWXT AT's reactor technology development, leading cross functional efforts to resolve complex issues.
- Serve as the executive owner of the licensing basis for one or more reactor technologies, providing leadership in regulatory defense and customer engagement.
- Collaborate with engineering teams to develop technical design bases and integrate regulatory requirements into reactor technology.
- Support the creation of testing programs to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Lead high level regulatory discussions on technical and programmatic matters, representing the program in strategic interactions with regulators, customers, and key partners.
- Collaborate with project management teams to develop budgets and schedules that achieve regulatory outcomes.
- Facilitate communication with internal and external stakeholders concerning the execution of licensing activities and program plans.
- Perform additional organizational leadership duties as needed to advance program and business objectives.
Required Qualifications:
- A bachelor's degree in an engineering or physics discipline is required (i.e. nuclear, mechanical, civil, environmental engineering, or a related field).
- At least twenty (20) years in management or a supervisory role is required.
- A minimum of ten (10) years of experience in nuclear licensing and regulatory matters within a U.S. framework (NRC or DOE) is required.
- Must have demonstrated experience leading the design, evaluation, and technological development of nuclear systems, with a proven ability to guide complex technical programs at an organizational level.
- Must demonstrate the ability to communicate clearly, concisely, accurately, and timely in both written and verbal formats.
- Must have a proven track record of building and sustaining effective relationships with high level internal and external stakeholders, fostering collaboration across multidisciplinary teams and organizations.
- Must have exceptional interpersonal skills necessary to manage simultaneous licensing activities across various stakeholders.
- Must be a U.S. Citizen.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) and/or Department of Defense (DOD) security clearance.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Advanced engineering degree is preferred (M.S. or higher).
- Subject matter expertise in one or more areas (e.g., safety analysis, ASME code implementation, radiation safety) is preferred.
- Experience leading and managing teams within regulatory/licensing or engineering environments is preferred.
- Experience specific to advanced reactor and new nuclear project licensing is preferred.

The base salary range for this position in [[stateProvince]] at the start of employment is expected to be between $[[custsalaryMin]] and $[[custsalaryMax]] per year. However, the base salary offered is based on local job market factors, and may vary further depending on factors specific to the selected job candidate, such as job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and other objective business considerations. Subject to these considerations, the total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, such as an annual cash incentive in addition to a full range of medical, retirement, and/or other benefits.
