JOB SUMMARY:
A n opportunity exists for a Nuclear Medicine Technologist – Nuclear Medicine Department at Penn State Health - Milton S. Hershey Medical Center (HMC) in Hershey, Pennsylvania. This technologist will be responsible for performing a variety of standardized imaging procedures and applying the prescribed ionizing radiation for radioisotope diagnosis and treatment. They will also set-up and adjust related equipment and devices and for maintaining related records under the direction of the Senior Imaging Staff. At HMC, our Nuclear Medicine Department includes equipment such as 4 gamma cameras, 2 SPECTCT cameras, and 1 PETCT camera. This is a full-time, day shift position with varied hours.
R esponsibilities include:
E nsures proper operation of the equipment safely while maintaining regulatory standards during all procedures
Assists physicians with various procedures and treatments (I131 Thyroid Ablation, Xofigo, and Lutathera)
Conducts daily equipment calibration and reports any equipment malfunctions and the need for adjustments and/or repair
Prepares radiopharmaceuticals in our USP797 Clean Lab
T rains technologists on new equipment or procedures; oversees students when applicable
T he minimum qualifications for this position include:
A merican Registry of Radiologic Technologists certification in Nuclear Medicine or NMTCB (or, if registry eligible, must attain certification within six months of hire)
P referred Qualifications include:
S ix months Nuclear Medicine experience (post education)
