Railbike Tour Guide
Awakening Rails Pennsylvania LLC operates Secret Valley Excursions, a railbike tour operation in Pottstown, Pennsylvania. We are seeking fun and outgoing individuals to serve as railbike tour guides for the 2026 season. These are part-time, seasonal positions available from early May through early November. We offer flexible schedules for those who would like to work up to five days per week or just a few hours per week. Partial-season employment is available, making these positions especially ideal for students and teachers.
This role is ideal for individuals with experience in railroading, cycling, or outdoor recreation.
Requirements:
• Must be at least 18 years old
• Must have reliable transportation to and from the station
• Must be able to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
• Must possess strong interpersonal and communication skills
• Must be able to perform the essential functions of the position, including pedaling up to three four-mile railbike tours per day, with or without reasonable accommodation
• Must be willing to submit to a criminal background check and drug screen in accordance with applicable laws
• First Aid/CPR certification preferred
Duties:
• Engage with customers in a polite and friendly manner
• Ensure the safety of guests and fellow employees at all times
• Lead or follow tours by railbike to monitor the track for hazards and assist customers as needed
• Assist customers with boarding and disembarking at stations and turnaround locations
• Move railbikes between the storage track and boarding area
• Turn and reposition railbikes at each end of the line
• Provide safety and operational briefings prior to each tour
• Perform light maintenance on equipment
• Provide first aid in the event of an emergency
• Staff the ticket, will-call, and merchandise area
• Answer calls on the customer service line
• Capture photos and create content for use on social media
• Share knowledge of local railroad history and the surrounding area
• Perform other duties as assigned
Starting Pay: $20 per hour
