Upholstery Trainee

The Company:
HF Custom (formerly Sam Moore Furniture), a division of Hooker Furnishings Corporation (NASDAQ: HOFT), is currently recruiting for an Upholstery Trainee to work in our plant in Bedford, VA.
Hooker Furnishings Corporation, in its 101st year of business, is a designer, marketer, and importer of case goods (wooden and metal furniture), leather furniture, and fabric-upholstered furniture for the residential, hospitality, and contract markets.

The Position:
We are looking for a dependable individual with great attention to detail to join our upholstery team as a trainee. This individual will:
• Learn to turn and move furniture on platforms to place fabric and leather properly
• Train on how to use a hammering motion to apply material to furniture frames
• Begin learning how to read diagrams and apply materials using proper measurements
• Practice using staple guns and hand tools such as a pneumatic screwdriver, mallet, scissors, utility knife, and hot melt glue gun
Candidates that will be a great fit will:
• Have an interest in learning upholstery skills
• Be comfortable with physical tasks such as standing 8–9 hours a day and working independently
• Be open to learning how to use hand tools and lift up to 50 lbs
• Have strong attention to detail and a desire to produce not just quantity, but high-quality work
