Role Description
InMind Services is a rapidly growing organization, offering training, consulting, and coaching to those who support young people. We currently contract with individual families, school districts of all sizes, and large statewide agencies across the country. We are looking for a neurodiversity-affirming autistic support consultant to work with teachers, paraprofessionals, school administrators, and staff of a specific building/district to develop and integrate strengths-based and trauma-informed strategies for supporting autistic students that are aligned with the best available brain science. We are seeking an individual with a strong background of working in special education with autistic students, who is eager to support district staff in utilizing new approaches to support all students.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
• Write and present trauma-informed Functional Behavior Assessments and Positive Behavior Intervention Plans that focus on developing positive skills and do not discourage appropriate sensory or self-stimulatory behavior
• Provide recommendations for trauma-informed accommodations and modifications for students
• Model positive strategies for teachers and paraprofessionals
• Collaborate with school district staff and teachers in the assigned school district(s), to assess their needs and determine how to best support them and their students
• Provide all appropriate communication (written and verbal) before and after classroom coaching sessions
• Maintain and update logs of all coaching sessions within each district
• Provide prompt observation and coaching report(s) to the district staff you are working with, that provides specific suggestions and recommendations for better supporting their autistic students.
• Participate in continuing education as needed and required by Executive Leadership Team.
• Create and maintain school district tracking reports
• Serve as the InMind liaison between the school district and teachers/staff. This may include attending IEP meetings, 504 meetings, safety planning meetings, etc.
• Work with building leaders, and their designees to support the integration of strategies into school wide interventions and supports (ie,PBIS, MTSS, the formation of trauma teams, etc)
• Participate in a range of school district meetings as a representative of InMind Services who can, when appropriate, recommend other services provided by the organization.
• Other duties as assigned: video creation for online workshops and/or social media; creation and maintenance of relevant handouts for school staff; creation and maintenance of program material; creation and delivery of Professional Development sessions
Position Requirements
• Knowledge of trauma-informed care, neurodiversity-affirming practices, self-regulation and self-stimulatory behavior in autistic populations, sensory processing and integration, and AAC usage
• Professional, personal, or lived experience with ASD
• Strong time management, multitasking, and organizational skills
• Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment
• Comfort with technology
• Minimum Bachelor's degree in Education, Psychology, Occupational Therapy, Social Work, or equivalent
• Master’s Degree preferred
• 5-10 years of experience as a Certified Teacher, Occupational Therapist, or equivalent
• All background clearances must be provided to include: fingerprinting, Child Abuse, etc.
InMind Autistic Support Consultant Position Details:
• This is a full-time position lasting ten months per calendar year and commuting to and from assigned schools is required
• Vacations and other holidays will be determined by InMind Services.
• Open PTO policy
• Weekly hours will be determined by school district assigned
• Salary starting at $80k
