Robert Half has an exciting opening for a full-time direct-hire Purchasing Manager with a client located in the Sarasota, FL area!
Responsibilities
• Establish Purchasing Department processes, procedures and overall purchasing strategy to ensure efficient long-term supply chain operability and satisfy required purchasing obligations
• Utilize BuilderTrend construction management software to coordinate project workflows, track budgets, manage documentation, and maintain accurate project records throughout all phases of construction.
• Prepare and distribute Requests for Proposals (RFPs) electronically to subcontractors and vendors, ensuring timely bid solicitation and competitive pricing opportunities.
• Review, analyze, and compare vendor and subcontractor quotations to ensure alignment with project budgets, scope requirements, and cost objectives.
• Create, issue, and manage Purchase Orders (POs) for materials, labor, and subcontracted services while maintaining proper approvals and documentation.
• Generate detailed cost reports, such as Cost-to-Build reports, to monitor project expenditures, forecast remaining costs, and support financial decision-making.
• Collect, organize, and validate all project-related cost data to ensure accurate budget tracking and reporting.
• Support field operations teams by preparing and processing change orders and Blanket Purchase Orders (BPOs) to address scope revisions, schedule changes, and operational needs.
• Prepare and review profitability reports to evaluate project financial performance, reconcile budgets, and finalize project costs upon completion.
• Perform comprehensive reconciliations to ensure all project expenses, commitments, invoices, and budget items are fully accounted for and accurately recorded.
• Identify, onboard, and establish relationships with new trade partners and vendors to expand bidding opportunities and strengthen the subcontractor network.
• Negotiate pricing, terms, and service agreements with subcontractors and suppliers to achieve cost savings while maintaining quality and schedule expectations.
• Procedure documentation and process improvement initiatives
Qualifications
• 5+ years of Purchasing Management experience
• Construction industry is highly preferred
• Advanced understanding of construction software
• Experience developing an organization’s procurement rules and processes, and knowledge of procurement regulations
• Bachelor's degree in a related field is a plus
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Strong vendor negotiation skills
