Position Summary
Albright College is seeking a skilled and reliable Painter to support the upkeep and appearance of campus facilities. This position is responsible for performing interior painting, drywall repair, and surface preparation across academic, residential, and administrative buildings. The Painter plays an important role in maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for students, faculty, staff, and visitors.
Key Responsibilities • Perform interior painting of walls, ceilings, doors, trim, and other surfaces across campus buildings
• Prepare surfaces for painting, including sanding, patching, spackling, caulking, and priming
• Repair drywall, including patching holes, taping, mudding, and finishing surfaces
• Match and mix paints to achieve consistent finishes and meet project specifications
• Maintain a high standard of workmanship and attention to detail
• Protect surrounding areas by covering floors, furniture, and fixtures during work
• Clean and maintain tools, equipment, and work areas
• Follow all safety procedures, including proper handling and storage of materials
• Work from work orders, project plans, or verbal instructions
• Coordinate with other Facilities team members to complete projects efficiently
• Respond to routine maintenance requests and assist with minor repairs as needed
Qualifications
Required: • High school diploma or equivalent
• 2-5 years of professional painting and drywall experience
• Knowledge of painting techniques, materials, and equipment
• Basic understanding of drywall repair and finishing
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality work
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work on ladders or scaffolding
Preferred: • Experience in institutional, commercial, or higher education settings
• Familiarity with work order systems
• Basic skills in other trades (carpentry, general maintenance)
Working Conditions • Primarily indoor work in academic buildings, residence halls, and offices
• Occasional evening or weekend work may be required to minimize disruption
• Exposure to paint fumes, dust, and typical maintenance environments
• Regular use of ladders and basic hand and power tools
Physical Requirements • Ability to stand, walk, bend, and climb for extended periods
• Ability to lift, carry, and move materials and equipment
• Manual dexterity to operate tools and perform detailed work
